Star Wars Crimson Empire trilogy to finally finish

Whofan

Fleet Captain
Back in the late 90s, one of the interesting Star Wars EU comics was the Crimson Empire saga. Basically, the series took place after the Dark Empire epic (controversial because it brought back Palpatine and Boba Fett, and had Luke turn briefly to the dark side) but instead of focusing on the OT's principals, it deals with a rivalry between two of the Emperor's royal guards-one loyal to the Emperor (Yet he ends up with the rebels), and one loyal to himself (and with ambitions of becoming a Sith lord).

After the initial story was wrapped up, a sequel was made-Crimson Empire II Council of Blood which mainly dealt with the Royal guard-now a bounty hunter-going after the Imperial council. The sequel is perhaps most noteworthy for having the first glimpse of the Yuzzhan Vong, the antagonists of the New Jedi order series.

Both series were done by Randy Strately with art by Paul Gulacy (Whose work also includes the Catwoman comics)

Crimson Empire III was planned, which would bring Kanos into conflict with Luke Skywalker. Well, now it's getting made as part of Dark Horse's Year of Star Wars:

Also coming up from Dark Horse is Agent of the Empire, which looks interesting and continuations for Dark Times and Knight Errant.

I'm confused now. I'm only familiar with this through the audiobook. Was that an adaption of the first two? I ask because there is only one that I know of.

the crimson empire series was a fantastic read and great look into the royal guards.
I am so looking forward to the new series . I am hughe star wars fan . and I love it
when the story focous's on the empire ..

I'm looking forward to this; I remember reading the first graphic novel back in middle school and being blown away by it. Bloody, violent, and smart with a Clint Eastwood-inspired hero to boot.

Looking forward to this as well. I really liked the first book, the second was meh though it introduced Yuuzhan Vong Nom Anor, but here's hoping that the third book wraps it up in great fashion.

I loved the Dark Empire story but never got into this one for some reason, though I kept glancing at it in the comic store, but never pulled the trigger. I'll have to keep an eye out for this one.

I didn't really enjoy the comic much, and never read the second one.

The audio drama is the best of the Dark Horse audio dramas, but that is not saying much because Tales of the Jedi is literally made of vomit.

^
I really didn't like the Tales of the Jedi audio drama either. But it's unfortunate that you didn't like Crimson Empire I. I thought it was pretty bad ass. Though I wish more had been done with Carnor Jax. He's been retconned since to be a Sith and an apprentice of Lumiya but I wish we had seen more of that during the book. I don't recall seeing much evidence of the Force at all with him. I also thought Kir Kanos was pretty hardcore.

I don't dislike Crimson Empire. I was just apathetic towards the whole thing.

That said, if Dark Horse does a omnibus hardcover of all three minis, I'll buy it. :)
