Everyone criticizes Jake Lloyd's acting, but were Natalie Portman, Hayden however-you-spell-it, Liam Neeson or Samuel L. Jackson significantly better? I suspect the problem lies more with the writing than with the acting.

Not the writing; the directing. Samuel L. Jackson could read the phone book and it would be amazing so it can only come to down to direction.

Noticeably, there was no equivalent all-encompassing documentary for either AOTC or ROTS.

Maybe they don't want us to know how the sausages are made any more, because we might stop eating the sausages.
