Spoilers Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 - Panel News/Announcements Thread

We have seen old Torgruta before. Most near-human species seem to have more or less human lifespans in Star Wars bar some oddities that are more like vampires.

Well seeing that Togruta can reach old age doesn't really tell us much about their lifespans if we don't actually know how old they are. For all we know Gantika was 400 year old.

And for all we know, Ahsoka will end up taking a pathway through time that jumps her 30 years forward, or something. (But then how could she have been one of the voices assisting Rey in TRoS? The Force works in mysterious ways, sure, why not.) And/or maybe she'll drink from the Galactic Holy Grail, giving her an extra 30 years of lifespan. The point being, if Filoni wants to keep her around, Filoni will, uh, find a way. :p

I can't really see Ahsoka and Grogu showing up in the Rey movie, it's her movie and bring other big characters like them, with no previous connection would just feel.
I have a feeling at this point if The Mandalorian related characters pop up in a movie somewhere, it's gonna be in one focused solely on them and their story arcs. At this point they seem to be pretty much keeping that whole corner of the franchise as it's own kind of isolated thing.

I could see Grogu appearing as one of Rey's students. He would be about old/big enough to be a proper Jedi Padawan, rather than a Youngling.

I don't know, at this point I can't really see him going back to Jedi training, they seem to have fully embraced him becoming a Mandalorian instead.

I think if he didn't have to choose he would gladly do both.
Well, they are inherently mutually exclusive paths. They even have Din point out that the Jedi Code and The Way of the Mandalore are diametrically opposed in some very key aspects.

That said I'm not opposed to Grogu eventually returning to the Jedi path. He has a long life ahead of him after all, and he has the time to explore many ways of thinking and being.

I still have in the back of my head the general notion that perhaps the way forward for both the Jedi and the Mandalorians is together. Not as a combined religion or anything, but as joint order of peace-keepers. The Mandalorians have always struggled with their warrior culture as for all it's benefits, without a purpose it's violence always turns inwards. If their skills were directed towards more selfless endeavours then it could break the cycle, and I think we got a glimpse of that with the liberation of Nevarro.
The Jedi for their part have struggled with becoming little more than soldiers in times of conflict. Together they could each temper and balance the other for the betterment of the galaxy as a whole. It could also go horribly wrong of course, but that's why the franchise is called 'Star Wars' after all! ;)

That's an interesting idea, and Grogu
and now Sabine
could be a good way to bring them together.

We don't know that Rey won't have a very different/more flexible approach to Jedi training, though. I doubt we'll see her stick to the old dogmas as Luke apparently did his best to.

There's a wide gap between "let's do things a little less rigidly" and "let's go in completely the opposite philosophical direction". You do know what the word "diametric" means, right?

^ I know that if Bob Iger orders that Grogu be part of Rey's new Jedi Order, in order to sell some sweet, sweet Youngling Yoda merch, it will be done, and all the galaxy's lore obsessives will just have to deal with it. :rommie:
