So I have an oddball question. My copy of the Essential Atlas has several pages where the ink is noticeably more faded than the rest of the book, to the point where those pages would be practically unreadable were they to fade any further. But the bulk of the text is perfectly fine and not faded at all (I try to keep my books in good shape). I've not seen this issue with any of my other EGs and I almost wonder if it was some sort of print error, with the ink for those pages not going as dark as it should have been.

Has anyone else seen this problem with the Atlas? I could take some pics if that would help.

I think that's a printing glitch. I've seen a few different copies of that book over the years (can't help paging through it anytime I see it) and have never noticed what you describe.

That could be. I didn't even notice it for a few years after I had bought my copy and was looking through it for some info, and as mentioned it is not a problem with other books or the majority of the pages. It just seems odd, since it's not as though I left the pages in the sun or anything.

Finally got around to ordering the TFM, which was actually cheaper than I was expecting on Amazon. Works for me.

StarWars.com has posted a preview of the first issue of Greg Pak and Phil Noto's run on the non-subtitled Star Wars comics.
It sounds like his first arc is going to be moving things pretty close to the beginning of Empire Strikes Back.

Are they still using that artist that seems to rely on tracing over photoshops of the actor's faces to get a good likeness? I always found that style very...off-putting.

Yeah, it's awful.

Who is it that does that? I've seen several references to it happening, but I can never remember who it is. I do remember some of the art being kinda weird, so I'm that must be them.

I really hate that tracing stuff. It doesn't look good at all, it looks like what it is: someone tracing photos, and it always looks really awkward. I find the main SW book to be mixed quality when it comes to the writing anyway, but the art is really its biggest problem.

Salvador Larroca. He also did artwork for the original Darth Vader series that wasn't photo-referenced like that. Shame, too, as the Vader stuff was some of the best in the franchise.

I wondered if someone at Marvel (or even Disney) is forcing the photo reference thing, but the other Star Wars books starring the original trio (the Leia mini series, Han Solo's various appearances, etc) just had normal art, so I don['t know why the main SW book would be something they'd require to have traced art.

Since it was the same artist using the photo reference, I think it was his own style, just one that has had its share of critics.

If nobody liked the style, Larroca would not keep getting work. I enjoy what he does on the Star Wars titles.

There's plenty of artists in the business that are sub-par and yet keep getting work. Just like with a lot of hack authors, it's not about the relative quality of their work so much as their ability to hit publishing deadlines.

IDW has announced that Star Wars Adventures #27 will feature the first part of a new three part Journey to The Rise of Skywalker story about Chewie fighting off a First Order attack on Kashyyyk between The Last Jedi and TRoS. It will also feature a back up story about C-3P0, R2-D2, and BB-8 going on a recruiting mission for The Resistance.

I finished up the second collection of the Poe Dameron comic last night, and I really enjoyed it. One thing kind of bugged me though, whenever they spelled out BB-8, they spelled it beebee ate, instead of eight. It just seemed like kind of a weird choice to me since it is the number eight, not the past tense of to eat.

I've seen that in SW publications before, especially with R2 and C3PO where they have a more phonetic sound description, rather than spelling out the digits.

Yeah, now that you mentioned it, I think I do remember seeing a few See three pee ohs.
I forgot to post my overall thoughts on the comic in my other post.
One of my biggest complaints about the sequel trilogy has been how little 3P0 and R2 have been in them, so I loved that 3P0 got such a big focus here.
The flashbacks for Terex were pretty good, but now I can't help but wonder just how many different perspectives we've gotten on The Battle of Jakku.
