Star Wars blu-ray release date announced tommorow?

Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray will feature all six live-action Star Wars feature films utilizing the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with three additional discs and more than 30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and much more.

Thank goodness you can buy each trilogy seperately! I was worried it would only be a "complete saga" set!

^ You can see the official press release at the above link. From what The Digital Bits reported, it sounds like the presentation didn't even offer as much information as was contained within the press release. I would assume that if the non-special edition versions were in the OT set, it would be only as "special features" again, rather than any cleaned up versions we would want to see.

Awww, the innocence. It's so cute. :)

You're aware this is George Lucas we're talking about, right?

;)

How many times are they going to sell the same movie to me?

Every time Lucas' bank book dips below 300 billion.

He could have made more money out of it releasing the original three films seperately. No one would have complained - paying a decent price for a decent film. x3. But instead a single boxset is cheaper. And they could have come out a lot earlier.

Isn't Army of Darkness the most repackaged DVD? Just wait until Bruce Campbell gets digitally inserted into all six Star Wars movies.

I can't wait to see these. I'll probably wait until the sets are cheap on Black Friday 2011, though.

^ Pretty much and as long as Lucas thinks he can continue to make money on it. I'm not sure I get the anger towards Lucas. It is clear that in recent years he has become full on business man and is using his creation as all good business people would, to make money. I don't really begrudge him this. He can do what he pleases. It's up to us as responsible consumers to decide when to stop buying a particular product. I firmly believe this.

Plus I don't get why people are claiming that they are getting milked. It's a new format, so I would expect a new release. Do people claim that Francis Ford Coppola is milking the Godfather? I can find multiple releases of it across multiple formats.

Indeed. This isn't "milking" it's being released on a new format, nothing else.

Now, it is milking if there's a better/more feature-laden edition released a few years down the road on Blu-Ray.

Any word on whether the Blu-Ray version of TPM will have the new version of the CGI Yoda? Apparently they did some tweaking to the CGI model after the first DVD came out.

Agreed. Lucas could've milked the Hell out of the video releases and hasn't. They'd make a mint out of selling the original "Han shoots first" versions in anamorphic DVD (beyond their previous 'ugly' release of them) and blu-ray and they haven't for whatever reason.

Except that we know that this is exactly what will happen. I expect these initial releases will be bare-bones to leave maximum room for future releases.

Those three extra disks are actually just Jar-Jar coasters, not actual special features.

;)
