Star Wars Battlefront

I prefer the maps of the original Battlefront, as well as the character models, but those Jedi and Sith! :D There is nothing like fighting with a lightsaber in close quarters. It's not quite as intense as Jedi Academy...there's this golden period in that game where your player has fairly developed Force powers, but his enemies are still storm troopers for the most part. Good heavens, it's fun plowing through hordes of mooks with a saber or force lightening.

I still play both, although against bots...I just put on some fast music, borrowing from games like Red Alert 2, and go at it for a few matches. Fighting the Empire is therapeutic.

I guess you also don't care about elections because you think your single vote doesn't matter.
We're talking about a product here. You are not in the target audience. It's fine for you to not be interested in that product. It's fine for a company to not be interested in marketing a product to you.
Depends on how you define the target audience. Previous Battlefront I and II players, apparently not.

An 18 year old playing Battlefront II is now 28, surely that's outside their target demo now ;)

Aye... even a 28 year old (God, I remember being 28...years ago...LOL!) would remember the fun of "single player" games that didn't require you to be online, or take part in compulsory multiplayer action.

Is anyone feeling these recently revealed covers?

Is anyone feeling pumped about this game? I lost a bit of glee-steam when I learned that AT-ATs would not be accessible... then learning the AT-ST's were going to be vehicles that we can drive, I kind of simmered down and maybe, I think.... maybe that's okay. It's still a walker. After all, if this game is successful, I'd like to think that it will continue to expand in sequels and improve things and eventually move up to things like making AT-AT's driveable. I loved pinning down and knocking out the shield generators on Hoth with AT-ATs in BFII (not so much in the first one).

The developers are telling us we can play as Vader, they are telling us we can pilot the Falcon. They have even given us a single player mode (albeit we know next to nothing about said mode). The graphics look insanely realistic and beautiful. The first four maps have been revealed: Tattooine, Hoth, Endor and Jakku.

Beware - there may be cause for optimism here.

EDIT: Oh shit, I just remembered I don't even own a Next-Gen system yet.

EA just revealed some gameplay at E3 today, for a MP mode called "Walker Assault". The footage jumps between both sides (Rebellion and Empire):

I've never played a Battlefront game in my life, but I'm seriously considering getting this.

An AT-AT is shown as being under player control in the gameplay footage. :techman:

Is this shit real????

The gameplay for the AT-AT is a pickup/jump unto vehicle type deal, but with a counter/energy bar thing that goes down if you aren't killing things. You can see it in action in the gameplay video at the bottom center of the AT-AT when under player control. When the player kills some Rebels the meter fills back up a bit. So if you have a target rich environment and are a good shot with The chin lasers, temple blasters, or the orbital bombardment, you could stay in the AT-AT a long time.

Interesting - that's how being a hero worked in Battlefront II, if you stayed idle or didn't kill anything then you'd be demoted back to a grunt. Sounds like sitting in an AT-AT without making enough damage will get you kicked out. Sounds fair, I suppose.

Did anyone see the news about Xbox One owners having access to the game 1 week before PS4's?

Edit: If you have EA access. And only 6 hours total.

Yeah, I'll still go for the PS4 version, t'anks. :)
Even if I had an Xbox One, I think the only games I would get for it are whatever exclusives they have.

Everything else...PS4.

EA has announced that a public Beta will run from October 8-12, and is open to everyone on all three platforms (on PC, it will be available via Origin). Three modes will be playable during the Beta:

  • Walker Assault on Hoth: Fight in epic 40-player battles as a Rebel to destroy the Empire’s onslaught of AT-AT’s by calling in Y-wing bombers. Or, side with the Empire and protect your walkers while utilizing their mighty weaponry to crush the Rebel objective.
  • Drop Zone on Sullust: Escape pods are crashing down and you and your team must fight to control them. With its frantic 8v8 matches, Drop Zone is sure to put your combat and strategy skills to the test.
  • Survival Mission on Tatooine: Play alone or with a friend via co-op or split-screen as you battle to hold off waves of Imperial forces including AT-ST’s, TIE fighters, elite stormtroopers and more.

Also:

In addition to the Star Wars Battlefront Beta on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and on Origin for PC, you will also get a chance to try out the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience. Available during the Beta only at www.StarWarsBattlefront.com, the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience features the strategic card game Base Command, and lets you earn in-game Credits that unlock Star Cards, weapons, and more in Star Wars Battlefront. In addition to Base Command, the Companion also lets players check out game stats and progression, customize load-outs and appearance, connect with friends, and more.

Can't wait to try it out. :techman:

Okay so my WONDERFUL partner just pre-ordered the Darth Vader PS4 and game for me.

I haven't owned a game system since my SNES back in the early '90's. Can anybody please confirm that I DON'T have to go online to play this bloody thing??? I DO NOT want to have to go online (because digital shit ALWAYS fucks up!) and JUST want to play the damned thing ALONE and have fun.

Can anybody PLEASE confirm this?

Oh and P.S. I just picked up "Alien Isolation" Nostromo Edition from K-mart the other day for $14.00! A friend at work said that's really QUITE good!!!
