Star Wars 7 Anticipation thread - rumors, photos, etc.

I don't find it surprising that the director and the guy in charge of script development want to rewrite an upcoming flagship movie. As for the rumor that Arndt, his script, his treatments, the baby, and the bathwater were thrown off a cliff, I think I'll wait for confirmation before I panic.

As long as it's the Kasdan of Empire & Raiders rather than the Kasdan of RotJ & Dreamcatcher I'm happy. Of course this is probably just a dialogue polish like on Empire. There's no time to start all over again. Considering he had much more influence on Jedi's script than he had Empire's it's just as well that he's not starting this sucker from scratch.
multiple sites are reporting Arndts script got thrown out as far back as July. so new script has been in the works for some time. i read Arndts was closer to GL's outline and apparently jj and friends didn't approve.

so, at least they aren't settling for any bullshit and doing something about it when something doesn't mesh well. going with "the flow" is what destroyed those crap prequel films.

I'm not really that worried. It's not like they need to construct some intricate, multi-layered political thriller here or anything.

All they really need to do is come up with some fun and imaginative action sequences, and lots of snappy dialogue for the characters to say, In fact the simpler they can make things, the better it will likely be. People often like to overthink these things, but at heart the OT was basically just a simple, cornball adventure story.

And that's all I really want to get back to with these movies.

This doesn't worry me at all. Kasdan did a great job on Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and Raiders of the Lost Arc, and I'm a huge Abrams fan. I'm pretty much the anti-Kirk55555 when it comes to JJ Abrams, I've enjoyed almost everything of his I've watched.

In my opinion, I'd say move this thing to 2016. My reasons:

- If the script needs work, don't rush it. This film is what will determine the future of the franchise, setting the tone and precedent for all that follows.

- With Avengers Age of Ultron and Batman Vs. Superman coming out, there is so much competition. All the latter needs to be is decent and people are going to go in droves to see those characters on screen together (unless the superhero bubble bursts before then)

You were a fan of the prequels I take it.

JJ didn't write his Star Trek films but I suppose I shouldn't let that stop you repeating the same crap we had to read for 2 years pending the release of Into Darkness.
And even some of the fans who hated JJTrek, have stated, that probably would've liked it if it was Star Wars, since their biggest complaint was he turned ST into SW

JJTrek would have been a horrible Star Wars movie, too. Its just a generic action flick with horribly written and mostly horribly acted characters. I would hate them no matter what franchise they ruin.

Does anyone have any idea how trust worthy that site and it's "source" is?

Mark Newbold of Jedi news is a friend of mine, you can trust him.
the only definiate scoops now, are Palpatine, and Kenobi's return
Mark, and his team have solid Lucasfilm connections, also you can trust Drew McWeeny's Star Wars coverage. The ST, is tied into the OT< PT< TCW, REBELS
the Star Wars comic by Brian Wood, as well as the Darth Vader TV specials.
Kenobi, by John Jackson Miller, is connected to it, as are the Empire, and Rebellion series of books, Maul Lockdown, and in a sense the Plageuis book, since George Lucas helped with the writing. Kasdan has been working with Kinberg on linking Rebels to the spin offs, and ST, he has also been coordinating with Randy Stradley, on the new comics, and Jennifer Hedle, on the books. their are even hints, in the new toys that have been released, since Bad Robot, and disney added their people to Lucas Licensing.

I thought we knew Ford was coming back with the original announcement a year ago... what shocks me if this is true is that he'll be back for MULTIPLE films. I expected him to finally get his wish and kill off Han Solo in Ep 7.

If Episode VII does get delayed (and that would probably be for the best) I hope they move it to Summer 2016. Star Wars is a Summer film, not a Christmas film.
