Hi everyone! Star trek's no.1 fan here

Does anyone get the impression we as fans seem to attribute more meaning & appreciation in more detail to the episodes than was actually intended / catered for by the production team? Hence why there are so many questions they can't seem to answer.

And if so, why do we do that? Star trek fans seem so different to other fans in that we like to think of it as a real detailed universe as opposed to just a tv show but I guess no production company could ever have enough resources to cater for the detailed attention of every single fan watching every nuance of every episode the way we seem to!

Why does Star Trek attract people like us?!

This really just describes hyper- analysis, which is more common with anything that instills a certain level of passion among its fans. At least, that's been my experience so far with Star Trek, genre films, and certain sports. Picking apart and asking "what if?" is great fun...

You mean, questions such as why crewman x in the background of episode y (season 4) was wearing a season 1 uniform, and spinning elaborate theories around that, while they probably just ran out of season 4 uniforms on the set and thought nobody would notice anyway?

Naah, never seen that kind of behaviour on this site

I'm only new here because of a glitch in this chaotic universe, probably not new in other realities, so I'm not really new.. We're all fellow star trek fans here but I'll leave if I'm not welcome (or maybe not )

Lol I'm going to look out for that now! (I probably already noticed it at some point). The explanation is simple: it takes time for the uniforms to be rolled out to all staff, and even then, this guy accidentally spilled some wine on his new uniform so he had to wear the old one that day. (that's the official explanation, but the real explanation is something more disgusting than wine that we won't go into).

I've been here nearly 8 years off and on, and I'm not sure how many threads I've started. A few to report problems in the QSF forum, sure, but actual discussion threads? Not many.

I've been here nearly 8 years off and on, and I'm not sure how many threads I've started. A few to report problems in the QSF forum, sure, but actual discussion threads? Not many.

Definitely and there's no hard and fast rule against it as far as I know, and even if there were, I'm not a mod or admin here so I couldn't enforce it. It can be considered bad forum manners, though.
In the first thread that I you'd started that I replied to, you asked how to make friends. Maybe making a bit less noise yourself and listening more would be one step to doing it. I get it that you're new and enthusiastic, and that's good. But a little humility wouldn't hurt.

You've been given some good advice: if you're new, browse a while, join in current discussions. There is a culture here, just like anywhere else.

You declaring yourself the #1 fan and then spamming up the place with nonsense is a poor way to start.
