1966 Shatner, Nimoy and all the gang replicated with AI CGI, including also a realistic Arex and more of Randy and CGI Majel Barret as Number One and CGI Jeffrey Hunter as Chris Pikewith Shatner in it
If only Abrams had been willing to spearhead a franchise for a while. Can't believe how badly Paramount + Abrams fumbled everything about the Kelvinverse.
Abrams wanted a clean slate but Paramount refused cuz the 'old Trek' merchandise was bringing in around 25-30 million if I recall and Abrams threw his hands up.If only Abrams had been willing to spearhead a franchise for a while.
Frustrating that it too Orci, Kurtzman and Lindelof so long to come up with a damn script.
to think it's been speculated the Animated Series could be redone in CG but now it could actually look like The Original Series itself!!1966 Shatner, Nimoy and all the gang replicated with AI CGI, including also a realistic Arex and more of Randy and CGI Majel Barret as Number One and CGI Jeffrey Hunter as Chris Pike
It's inevitable really
Not exactly. He didn't see the business sense in competing with themselves for limited money. In 08-09 landscape that made sense.Abrams wanted a clean slate but Paramount refused cuz the 'old Trek' merchandise was bringing in around 25-30 million if I recall and Abrams threw his hands up.
IIRC, Abrams wanted a huge multi-media blitz with Trek with TV shows and games, but CBS wouldn't allow it - probably cos they already had plans for their version now on Paramount+. It was a victim of the split brands they had back then, when the TV people and movie guys were competing. Can't believe how badly Paramount + Abrams fumbled everything about the Kelvinverse.
Yes you're right, but the pettiness of Moonves baffles me. Guy hates scifi with all his blood yet held ST hostage for that long. Good riddance.IIRC, Abrams wanted a huge multi-media blitz with Trek with TV shows and games, but CBS wouldn't allow it - probably cos they already had plans for their version now on Paramount+. Yeah. Had Abrams gotten more of what he wanted I could see that being the kick off of a new era.IIRC, Abrams wanted a huge multi-media blitz with Trek with TV shows and games, but CBS wouldn't allow it - probably cos they already had plans for their version now on Paramount+. There was a rumour that Legacy would be the 2nd Long Treks telemovie after Section 31, when they announced they planned them every 2 years. Then the 3rd one a Discovery reunion. I reckon it was just someone trying an educated guess but you never know...You know, it’d solve two problems at once if they just made the next movie Star Trek: Legacy.
They could. But I don't know if Paramount trusts Jeri Ryan to lead a theatrical movie by herself. You know, it’d solve two problems at once if they just made the next movie Star Trek: Legacy.
