The E-D and this new one are my two favorites.

ST fans are becoming notorious for not accepting anything new, even if its better.

RAMA

It's just amazing to me that people keep point out little minutia things that were changed for this movie and people are all "OMG I LOVED IT!!! BEST EVA!!!!"

"OH THE STARDATES MAKE SENSE NOW! IT'S AN EARTH YEAR FOLLOWED BY A UNDEFINED DECIMAL!!! I LOVE IT!!!!"

"OH THE WARP EFFECT IS KEWL!!!"

It's getting kind of silly.

No more silly than the trekkies who refuse to see this movie because of the changes.

Indeed.

It's the best they have done. Traveling via a bubble of warped spacetime should look fairly distorted, and not just some streaky stars.

The warp effect was indeed fantastic. The sound was great, and almost threw me back in my seat when it first happened.

What I also loved was the view from the bridge, looking out the window viewscreen. How the starts trailed (a la Star Wars), but only for a split second.

Very cool.

Did the view remind anyone of scenes from ST:TMP? That's where I remember it; at the beginning when they are having trouble forming a stable warp field.

I will NEVER grow tired of it! Or blase or anything else bad!

It was very exciting!! And yes, sucked in breath each time. As it should be.

Happy to fawn over minutiae, if you can call such awesomeness that.

I didn't mind the speed or sound but a quick streak of light would have been nice.

The first time we saw a ship go to warp, I though, "That's it?" I guess that's because I was expecting something similar to what we've seen before. But when I figured out that was it, I gotta say I liked it. Especially the coming out of warp.

I liked it...it was very appropriate for a big screen movie. I don't know that it would have the same punch on the TV screen that it does in theaters. And I still love the E-D warp sequence as well...holds up very nicely after 20+ years.
