Star Trek XI Toys??

Slappy The Vulcan

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
What would you like to see?...will you be purchasing any when they come out?...Personally..I will prob. be buying the light and sound ships, and also hope they do micro scale ships/playsets as well...The Kelvin looks like it would make a great toy...will be looking for that one...any Idea when Toys based on the movie will be hitting the shelves?

Well, my daughter will be turning 3 next year... so I guess it depends what age ranges are offered. If they are only offering action figures for older kids then I'll probably have to wait a few years until she's old enough.

Of course, I'm dreaming. We'll probably wind up playing with Ken and Barbie instead of Kirk and Spock. Hey, I wonder if they'll make Trek Barbies...

I am so going to pick up a model of the Enterprise. IIRC Playmates got the contract for the new film, while DST will still make the classic stuff.

My daughter was all about Polly Pocket, Barbie and Groovy Girls from that age to about 9. She is 11 now, she just went to her first Comic Con with me last month, and she is bugging me for more Justice League action figures.

Just be patient and have your own toy collection and she will come around.

I'll definitely buy Kirk's lightsaber. :D

is that a euphemism for his...

but as far as toys, hmmmm not sure. i don't think the ships will look good enough for me to want. they're not going to match tng era sleekness which is more my preference. :( however if the enterprise looks different enough from the old one then maybe i'll get a small one. :)

I can't wait to see the influx of $200 dollar Enterprise's from various toy makers that do everything except fly away on its own

There were announcements made about movie-related toys by Playmates back in February, but the word then was that they'd be expected to be available in Spring 2009, which I'd guess means at or just before the time the movie hits the theaters.

I'd like to see a reasonably priced bridge set sized to go with the obligatory action figures.

That way, I'll be able to afford to both get one and, if it's too different from the original bridge, burn it.

:p

I wanna buy a ship depending how the Enterprise looks or which other Starfleet ships tickle my fancy.

How about some kind of voice changer helmet.

I saw the rpeviews of the radio controlled flying ships and was impressed by the battery pack and controller, which looked like a mildly updated version of the tricorder and the communicator. They looked great. Of course I'll but a communicator, tricorder, and phaser for me and my sons.

I will buy the communicator, phaser and tricorder and probably the Enterprise, if it's well done.

Those would be the Tyco/Mattel toys, also due in early 2009, according to TrekMovie.

Some discussion of those here:

However they turn out, we're looking at figures aimed at a lower age range. Less accurate than anything done by Art Asylum, Diamond Select or whatever their name is these days... I'll find it hard going back to Playmates after the realistic likenesses done for Nemesis, ENT and everything since.

Of course, this is not important to the target group of kids were talking about... who'll be mixing and matching with existing Star Wars, Marvel/DC, Dr Who and other figures from a High Street toy store.

Those RC ships aren't based on the new movie, though.

At the flea market I go to, there is a Star Trek Ken & Barbie in original box.

EDIT: As for what I'll buy... IF they come out with an Enterprise model, I'd get back into model building again.

True, but close inspection of the communicator/remote controller and the tricorder/charger shows that they are slightly different than TOS versions. They look sleeker and more modern while still having TOS recognition. To me, that sounds like STXI stuff. If these two things aren't exact representations of the movie props/toys, I hope they are close.
