Star Trek XI subtitle?

I know, I know, the proper title for the film is simply 'Star Trek'. And that's as it should be. It's appropriate, as a reboot. It's good marketing to brand it simply that way.

But in fandom we don't necessarily have to roll like that. I get tired of refering it as variously 'Abrams Trek', or 'NuTrek', or 'Trek 2009', or whatever. Surely if we all put our heads together we can all come up with a good, proper subtitle for the 2009 movie? :)

Boring as it sounds, I like the one suggested on the movie poster. "The Future Begins". It's a nice simple subtitle that also manages to explain what the movie is about.

The Future Begins = TFB. ST:TFB or STTFB. Too clunky. And every time someone doesn't use it do we disrupt the thread to tell them, or point this thread out to them? Complicated.

I like Star Trek or ST. This differentiates it from The Original Series because we call that TOS.

It always causes some extra clarification in my house.

"Do you want to watch Star Trek?"

uhhh...

In writing I've always said ST:XI. So lately I've been referring it to as "eleven".

I've recently been calling it Star Trek all around this site. No-one's had any trouble knowing what I'm talking about yet.

IRL, on the other hand, it's "Star Trek. The latest one."

Star Trek: The Bland Romulan Whatshisname Blows Up Vulcan

Star Trek: Not For Star Trek Fans

Star Trek: The Bright Future (AKA "Here there be lens flares")

Star Trek: Star Wars

etc.

How about be call it "crap"? :)

Kidding aside, I think ST2009 works for me. Or most of the time ST would work because I don't think people will mix it up with TOS.
