Star Trek XI Spy Photos

How about if Nimoy Spock is giving the commencement address at the Academy, and that prompts him to harken back to his Academy graduation and subsequent adventure.

Quit being insane, people. It's a total reboot.

I don't think it's insane to take a wait and see stance. I do, however, think it's quite unfair to consider those who disagree with you insane. :vulcan:

J.

One could say it's insane to consider the act of considering people who disagree with you insane to be unfair!

Nice boots too.

I'm really curious to see the rest of the costumes.

Yep, I LOOOOOVE all the "authorities" here.

What we know is that:

1) They have boots that are not "conventional" dress boots (not a bad decision to make... these look pretty practical, actually).

2) The uniforms seem to be either the green/gold or the blue, no red present (indicating, but not PROVING, that this is consistent with the pre-TOS setting).

3) There is no black collar. The collars are the same color as the uniform tunics (also consistent with pre-TOS), but are not "turtlenecks" or crewnecks, exactly.

4) There's SOME indication that there are skirts, pants the same color as the tunics, and pants that are different colors than the tunics. Hard to say what's what.

5) The nacelles rotate.

Won't load at all for me - im having a nerd alert out of all proportion to the actual information revealed though :D :D

Some of em also appear to be wearing all white, trousers, shoes, and all. Lab Technicians maybe? Carol Marcus...

I don't see it being long before we get pics of the whole costumes - with that many extras aroudn someone will slip up pretty soon I'd say. Either that, or a real cast picture is in the works now the main cast is complete.

I'd rather wait to see the cast pic (says the guy who frantically clicked on the link as soon as the page would load). :D

You could almost see the cracks JJ is going to fall into if he changes all of the details in hopes of getting more realism. That's exactly what we don't want - it's Andromeda

Well, since we are dealing with two different time periods, both in the FUTURE, the production team certainly had to make some choices about how to differentiate the two. It would be nice if either one looked familiar to the fans/the public as Trek.

There's a reason it's not called Star Trek ELEVEN. It's a new beginning.

It's a complete reboot.

It may have Nimoy, and it may have the original continuity in it, but I believe in the end it'll be this new coninuity, with the previous either changed or erased. This is based on all the information we know thus far.

1. New actors.
2. Redesigned EVERYTHING.
3. Better tech. (They're not going to have a computer THAT-TALKS-LIKE-THIS. I-AM-FROM-THE-60S-BEEP-BEEP-BOOP.)
4. A story that apparently violates established canon, based on what we know.

Use logic, people. It's a reboot, just like the new Battlestar Galactica. Faithful in many respects, but definitely not the same.

This is like arguing with people who believe Jimi Hendrix covered the Star Spangled Banner. It was a rendition, not a cover.

You are aware that *no* Trek movie has been numbered since Star Trek VI? Generations, First Contact, Insurrection and Nemesis weren't reboots. Your argument is invalid.

It's a complete reboot.

No, it's not.

Okay, got me there.

2. Redesigned EVERYTHING.

First of all, you haven't seen the designs for anything, so you don't know what they're doing. Secondly, they redesigned 'everything' for TMP and that was no reboot.

3. Better tech. (They're not going to have a computer THAT-TALKS-LIKE-THIS. I-AM-FROM-THE-60S-BEEP-BEEP-BOOP.)

Once again, you haven't seen anything. But, for the sake of argument, Enterprise looks a lot slicker than TOS. Still no reboot.

4. A story that apparently violates established canon, based on what we know.

We don't know anything beyond some possible AICN rumours and what you can infer based on some of the casting. Basically, unless you're working on the production and risking your job by telling us this, you know about the same as the rest of us. Which is pretty much jack at this point.

It very well might be a reboot. But you don't know anything for certain, so relax.

Why olive? That's my only question. ;)

As long as we get gold. Can't imagine Kirk running around in olive, people!

Let me jump in to defend...I don't know if reboot or reimagining or whatever is the proper term but he's right. The comparison doesn't seem to belong to Battlestar Galactica, but moreso Batman Begins and Casino Royale.

Re-cast it. Modernize the details, but go back to the basics because the franchise got bloated and stale. That's based on my interpretation of everything I've read online about the film, I'm not stating anything as fact. That said, I'm excited because I absolutely love BB and CR and hopefully ST will fall in the same league.

Of course, if they're filming old Spock's scenes first, wouldn't that mean late 24th or early 25th Century uniforms?

Nimoy apparently won't begin shooting his parts until December.

Yes, the grand conundrum rears its ugly head yet again... to click thru or not to click thru. "Oh, a little peek at the unfiroms won't spoil anything."

I finally figured out what bugs me about you. It's your constant use of the word "people." It's so patronizing. You are just so dismissive of anyone who disagrees with or even doubts your theories. You write "from on high."

Wow, that's a relief. You don't piss me off any more. You amuse me.
