Noted with much pleasure the latest Trek movie has retained some of the unique sound effects from the original TV series. Specifically the navigation beacon - sonar like ping/beep sound you hear often when exterior shots of the Enterprise are seen. Does anyone know if this sound effect is available as an MP3 or Wav?

Well, the originals are all here. I doubt, though, that we'll see an official release of the sound effects from the new movie any time soon. Guess you'll have to wait till the DVD comes out to make good audio clips off it.

You may have to do some digging, but a Yahoo/Google search might find quite a few of the original series sounds online at various websites.

I thought we always heard music on exterior shots of the Enterprise. That pinging sound was heard exclusively on bridge scenes wasn't it?
