I'm glad it's funny, but how is it a reason Paramount stopped listening to us? The video was a joke of sorts. I don't think that's why Paramount stopped listening to us, I rather think that Paramount decided that they wanted to attempt bigger ratings with t & a, thinking that if they showed Seven of Nine prancing around or T'Pol half-naked in a de-tox chamber that it would distract us from the weak stories. Berman & Braga might as well have been the creators of the Man Show, because there just wasn't much of any substance in what they did. Mainly, just T & A. But I would love an explanation as to how the video shows why Paramount doesn't listen to us anymore.

I'll explain, I hope no one takes offense....

You see even if that was done in jest, Paramount sees us all as drooling, lunatic, raving, obsessive, fanbois, videos and even letters from 'Us' to 'Them' even if they are meant to be in Jest, only seem to confirm what 'They' believe 'Us' to be.

Nothing will change 'Their' view of 'Us' that is why 'They' stopped listening to 'Us' a long time ago, you can thank the Internet for a lot of that view of 'Us' because not only will you get the 'Normalish' fans point of view you'll also get the ones that confirm what Paramount believes we're all like point of view.

Unfortunately all it takes is a very vocal minority in the majority to make us all look bad in Paramount's eyes.

* You wanted an Explanation, yea I had to look back at our overall behavior over the years to figure this thing out. *

Yes it is, and since we're on the subject, anyone know what building this movie is being made in? Maybe I overlooked it....

....Can't very well have a movie without a stage.

Star Trek 2008 has a production office on the lot as well as an art department and other stuff

this thread is about discussing the old faq

Von Helton I suggest you create a new thread with your insights and information

Why do you need a FAQ for something that doesn't exist yet?

:wtf:

And, why does god need a starship?

:D

It is my belief that Paramount is discarding the intelligence of Star Trek to cater to mainstream audiences.

False premise. "Star Trek" fans are not more intelligent than mainstream audiences.

There are still Trek fans out there even ?

Paramount doesn't seem to think there are anymore it seems.

After the failure of the last two films and TV series, can you blame them, but then again if the last two films and TV series had lived up to their premises, meh, moot point anyway by now, what's done is done.

Onward to Star Trek 2008.

* I for one am looking forward to this film *

VonHelton, one warning for trolling.

Trolling? No, it's called COMMON SENSE. You cannot have a FAQ about something if it doesn't exist! The whole point of writing a FAQ is to answer question about something the individual has already experienced.

So, is the movie out? No. Have I seen it? No. Has anyone? No. For something that is supposedly "already in production", it sure is hard to find out anything about it, now isn't it?

That's a sophist argument.

People's questions aren't limited to the past and present. Don't you ever have questions about the future? People wonder about the 2008 US Presidential Election too, but it hasn't happened yet.

The future aside, ST XI has been announced, it's upcoming, the movie won't appear from out of thin air on 12/25/08, so it does exist on some level even if it's not yet completed and released in theaters and there are still questions about it, some that come up frequently; ergo, we have an FAQ.

All you're really doing is being difficult because you know it's pissing off other posters. Posting simply to anger posters is trolling, so I warned you.

Um, no, I was using common sense, like I stated before. Every FAQ I've ever seen done ANYWHERE is on things that already exist. You see the movie, but you still have questions, so you search the 'Net to see if there is a FAQ available.

What is happening here is called "putting the cart before the horse".

:borg:

Then let's agree to disagree. The world would be boring if everyone had the same opinion.

No, an FAQ is exactly that, Frequently Asked Questions. They are there to give answers to questions repeatedly asked.

Anyway, brilliant thread.
