Star Trek Website: Interview with Kristen Beyer

I'm sure we all spotted this interview on Star Trek.com this morning, Kristen Beyer talking about motherhood, the economic downturn and her latest Voyager novel but in case you missed it, here's the relevant parts!

ST: So can you confirm the rumors we've been hearing that Janeway is set to make a come back in your novel

KB: Obviously we've had to keep it rather hush hush until now, but yeah Kathryn Janeway does return as a character in the latest Voyager novel.

...

ST: So what can you tell us about the story?

KB: Well I don't want to give too much away obviously! [Laughs] I want people to buy the novel, but I can say that Janeway will return, but in a way that I hope no one will expect!

Looks like I owe some militant janeway fans an apology!!!

:techman::guffaw::techman::guffaw::techman::rommie::bolian::lol::guffaw::lol::techman:

This is perfection. If only you could have kept it going for a while. It would have been great to get a good laugh at the expense of the Janeway Jihadis. :techman::rofl::guffaw::lol::rommie::bolian:

"Militant"... that... that I can roll with. "Jihadi," while nice alliteration, is... can we please not use that one again? That's sort of loaded.

^ There's always "jingo" or "jingoism." Dunno if that's much better, lol.

There always has to be one guy who takes the joke too far, doesn't there? :lol:

Wait--I want to be that guy!!

:: prepares the PAD pyre ::

Oh, hah! :lol: Yeah, I guess we took it too far that one time, eh? What with the books and the burning.

*roasts marshmallows*

This is what it said:

*Looks at sleeping husband, creeps out of bed, goes downstairs, walks into kitchen, turns on light*

YES! YES! YES!

:rofl:

I forgive you JB, even though I tried to stay out of the arguments as much as possible.

Now I don't have to feel too guilty about reading the books!

I'm so happy right now.

*Turns off light, walks out of the kitchen, heads up to bedroom*

EDIT: Oh, and Ms Beyer,

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

You have officially taken place as my favorite Trek author.

You were actually already there because of how much I loved Full Circle.

Ok, now my freak out is done. :lol:
And then I remembered the date and deleted it all.

I've been thinking about your original post.. no doubt Ms. Beyer has read this thread as it has her name in it. Maybe she read your JOY and thank you's and enthusiasm and thought.. hey, maybe I WILL bring Janeway back. Then I can be the Treklit hero to all these devoted fans.

This is my little fantasy.

I love your fantasy.

From your keyboard to her eyes. :lol:

I love how JB hasn't been on since he posted the joke. :rofl:

And we would all write really beautiful hand written thank you notes to her. I would personally send her a gift, something beautiful from a foreign land, as a thank you. And I would light candles for her and have a mass said in her name. And I would conceive a daughter just so I could name her Kristen and when she was old enough I would tell my daughter the story of her name, how she was named for a great and wise woman who gave us back Janeway after we had wandered through darkness gnashing our keyboards and wailing and that now everything was going to be okay forever and ever. Amen.

You know Kristen is on our name list. Well, hubby's list.

At least it was last pregnancy, before we found out that Liam wasn't a "she" but instead a "he."

Well Ms. Beyer knows what she has to do..

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I'll name one of them Kathryn, probably one of the different spellings, and as a middle name if I can't convince him as a first.

And technically she'd be named after my great-grandmother a d his great-great-aunt. :rofl::rofl:

I love your fantasy.

Unfortunately real life took over this weekend so I didn't have a chance to do much more than post the original post!

My apologies!

Yeah real life happens, you may want to hide though. I showed teacake where the batleths were hidden. :guffaw::guffaw:

Just kidding.

Or am I . . . :rofl:

Ha Ha! I'll bear that in mind!

Sorry! I came up with this idea a while ago and thought it would make a quite believable April Fools Prank!

I did believe it.

For all of about four minutes. Hence my first post, I do have to admit now though, it was kind of funny. I can laugh now. :lol:
