Star Trek Voyager Desktop Wallpapers

Oh, look at this! :)

It could be a poster for a book or a movie... ;)

Really nice. It keeps me from reading Architects of Infinity ;)

How is your reading? Is it another K. Meyer's novel? :)

Kirsten Beyer. Yes. Just started reading it. I can hardly remember the details of the last novel Pocket Full of Lies because of the big gap between the releases. I love her writing style and how Kirsten Beyer portrays the characters. Janeway is talking in my mind's eye for instance.....

The only book I purchased was "Atonement" and although I read it from the beginning to the end and I liked it on the main lines, I knew that it would be my first & last Beyer's novel I would read. Why? 1) the idea of a Chakotay as the new Captain of USS Voyager, while I always thought that this character, as I saw him through 7 seasons, didn't have the stature and the merit of being in command of Voyager, especially after a Captain like Janeway!) & 2) Janeway/Chakotay together, idea which never worked for me! And then, we know that the one and only love in Janeway's life was/is always Starfleet and what it would offer her: a capitaincy, a position of Admiral or whatever... ;)

Anyway, have a nice reading, Kilana2!!! :)

It was Seven and Chakotay as couple that was odd to me. I like them more as friends.

I loved Janeway but always felt Chakotay would make a better a captain because a) he didn't have Janeway's emotional baggage and b) he had a more human touch with the crew. In fact his Maquis crew respected him so much B'Elanna defied the captain's orders in The Conspiracy Theory. Tjmo though.

Oh don't get me wrong, I didn't like Chakotay/Seven either! And besides, except some few people who liked this strange romantic association, it seems to me that the majority of fans never trully believed in this couple, so.... However, they could have been not necessary good friends but two people able to talk to each other & share some different knowledge.

For me, his humanity and loyality are only towards his Maquis friends. In a certain way, I can understand that as seeing as they shared a lot for several years on the Val Jean. But as a First Officer, he must care about everyone, Starfleet crew including and after the episodes like "The Good Sheperd" & "Friendship One", Chakotay only showed indifference or rather, how much he didn't care of these people.
We can maybe reproach a lot to Janeway as Captain but she always support/help and tried to protect her crew the best she could.

But well, it's just a personal feeling. Be free to share it or not.

I guess I see these episodes differently.

In The Good Shepard Janeway doesn't have a clue who these people are but that makes total sense to me. In the very beginning she assigned Chakotay with personnel and he knows them very well, even if they belong to a crew of over 100 people. He also knows why they have issues. He wisely suggests letting them pursue their own interests. That's not disinterest but more empathy. Why force them to perform roles they are not competent to fill. He says they would normally be reassigned but where do you do that on Voyager. To me this doesn't mean Chakotay doesn't care. He just has a different solution to Janeway's. In fact half way through the mission Janeway wnds up offering Chakotay's solution to Celes.

As for Friendship One they are being attacked by anti matter weapons and have no shields. Only a fool stays and is destroyed. After all Harry, who is not Maquis, is also on board. Best to get reinforcements which he does. Then he goes back to the surface to rescue them so I'm not sure how this fits.

I do feel that season 6 and 7 centered so much on the 'big three' that a lot of the remaining characters were left behind. In fact the impression I was left with was 7, the doctor and Janeway were so good at everything I'm surprised they didn't run the ship by themselves. The rest of the cast should have been sent to the showers but that's a writing problem imo so I don't fault the characters for it.

And if you are hungry, guys ... have a cucumber sandwich ...

Such a silly thing but I've scrolled past those sandwiches a few times and as satisfying as they probably are they do not fit my experience of having 'high tea' cucumber sandwiches! The bread is usually less robust. Often simple, thin white bread, with the cucumber fitting neatly within and crusts removed. Small and bite sized :) (That being said I would still try one of those pictured).

Agreed @catshadowsi8 we all see things differently.

As for me, I would love to have seen Janeway and Chakotay as a couple. Not having seen them together, however, doesn't cause me any frustration either.

Of course, Tommy and Chakotay would be my ideal couple - but again, the fact that they weren't doesn't affect my enjoyment of the show.

And as far as the relaunch books are concerned, I appreciate the work Beyer puts into them. They are very exciting stories and her writing style is good.

But nothing can leave me in the cold as much as those relaunch books. They are just the opposite of what VOY is about for me: a ship lost at the other end of the galaxy. That's the premise of the show and that's what those books tear to shreds and turn into its opposite.

But different strokes for different folks as you English-speaking people would say ... :D

I honestly have never read the relaunch books and probably never will for two reasons. First I like canon only. Since they are not, I'm not interested. Secondly, I heard through the grape vine what happens to some of the characters and went 'Over my dead body'. Geesh...

As for romance I was a fan of a Janeway/Chakotay romance until Workforce. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust after that. I'm ok with it now. Not so much at the time.

Seriously I'm convinced Star Trek writers couldn't put two dogs in heat together without ruining it.(Paris and B'Elanna being the exception only because it took so many years to make it happen).

But that's just me. I'm sure many would disagree.

Just curious Thomas Eugene but do you know if you have uploaded a wallpaper from The Fight featuring Chakotay and his grandfather. I'm not sure I can go through 84 pages looking unless I know there is one. If you say it's there I will happily plow through them. I would love to get it for my laptop.

Yeah, certain things that happen in the relaunch books that make your hackles rise. I agree on this point.

But I disagree with you on the other point - sorry about that. I think that there are some very good VOY books out there and even if they are not canon, they are well worth a shot. My favourite one is DISTANT SHORES - a collection of short stories which take place during the seven years of the TV show and the stories feel very much like they are part of the show.

So how come that you like J/C almost throughout the show and then towards the end you decided "well, maybe not ..."?

And sorry to disappoint but I have no wallpapers for that episode and it's not even planned for the foreseeable future. There are a lot of episodes that I prefer to that one and I think this is how many people feel about that ep ... so for the time being no plans for THE FIGHT, sorry.
