Star Trek visits Planet Atheist...

I notice that in one of his comments he claims that Louis Pasteur proved that life does not spontaneously arise from inanimate. Actually, he made a sweeping generalization based on his experiments that proved that maggots do not spontaneously arise from rotting meat, by isolating some meat from the influence of flies.

The idea that once a thing is proven it can never be revised with new information is an alien concept to science . . .

And it would appear that logical reasoning may be alien to this film-maker. We swim in an ocean of propaganda every day; is it too much to ask that it at least be QUALITY propaganda?

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! MY EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been BLINDED!!!!!

As far as copyright laws go. If they are using copyrighted images to make money, it's flat out against the law. Fanfilms and FanFictions in general get away because we aren't trying to sell them. We just do it for the fun of it.

And the things I could say about the content itself... but seeing as this is not a religious debate thread, I shall restrain myself.

I love that it's from some kind of "drama ministry" (whatever the fuck that means), yet the acting is simply atrocious!

This devout Catholic shivers. The laugh track was especially egregious.

...And Kirk and Spock being completely out of character. And using Spock only to occasionally make a logic comment. And the reduction of Star Trek to pure... spin! Gah! It could have been so much... better.

Anyhow, regarding the copyright complaint... I make a fan audio show, but we have so few listeners that, if the hammer were to come down, I'm confident that Paramount simply wouldn't find us. So I'm really not worried--not as worried as should be the majors like Cawley and areakt. That said, I think it's possible this falls under the umbrella of the U.S.'s strong parody protection laws, in which case there is no copyright concern. But I don't really know how that works.

Only cringing.

EDIT: Oh, and thread resurrection? It's my bag. :P

Sorry; gotta check last post dates from now on.
