Star Trek TMP Memory Wall edit

While waiting for the remastered DE to have a go at a final cut, I did a quick rough cut to try and re-introduce Sulu's plot arc back into STII and STIII. Just tiny tweaks.

This is my latest effort. Just waiting for the release of the new DE in September for some final tweaks. Scotty's scene has to go in for sure and I need to decide which version of the Officer's Lounge I prefer.

Tweaked version of the SLV airlock scene using scenes from Slaymage's cleaned up preservation. Somebody asked why Rand would be out there after Spock. She was obviously under orders to stall Spock but it was tough to find any dialogue, so I tried to add an establishing shot and conversation.

Got the new boxed set - sadly my player seems not to like the 4k SLV so I will have to make other arrangements to watch the SLV. Watched the Bluray bonus disc. Some nice stuff on there. I love the deleted scenes.

We are missing some of the key dialogue so I can see why they could not include the scenes in any official cut but the engineering scene is so cool. It might just about be possible to crib enough dialogue. All it needs is 'Kirk to Engineering' and the rest makes sense.

The snag with the deceased security guard isn't that he doesn't fire his phaser, which doesn't look odd at all, it's that the there is no dialogue for his obituary.

I might have been able to vocode it - I was happy with my vocoded line for Kirk in the airlock scene - but sadly one of my laptop updates screwed with my system and I'm fairly sure my vocoder has stopped working.

Edit: Ok so a quick look and I can kill security officer Dickerson from Savage Curtain or try to marry up that dialogue with Astrobiologist Phillips from Ultimate Computer. That might look or sound unnatural but worth a try.

Tweaked to sit within the DE edit.

And an edit of the other released outtake with dialogue to plug the gap.

Incorporating the alarm and slight trims from the DE, and then bleeding Uhura's dialogue into the following scene to try and improve the pacing. My latest version has sneaked in some background dialogue from Janice Rand taken from the Voyager episode Flashback.

It's still a work in progress but you can see from the scaled up SD scenes why I'm really keen to take a look at the 4k version.

Some more rotoscoping of the Lounge scene. I gave up on everything but McCoy's head. Still not perfect but better, I think.

You really pepped that up.

I have done some housekeeping and cleared out the old versions. Here is the final(?) draft of Part 1.

I have a slight dilemma in that I don't mind the original lounge scene and never really got why they decided to change it, so do I stick to the version from the TC or go with my tweaked rotoscoped hybrid?

Was that Charlie Dell (Star Command’s Parsafoot) in the Transporter room background?
Do you mean Rand's dialogue? It was vocoded but I could not get the damn thing to train on Grace's actual voice files. I'm just not code literate enough to work out why the vocoder could not see the necessary files. In the end I had to train it using voice clips and pre-trained files. It worked well for Shatner and Barrett but Grace's accent sounds wrong to my ear.

Or do you mean the transporter assistant? He does get a credit in the cast list.
