Star Trek TMP era Animated 3D VR Series in production!

Thank you, Robert, for the kind reply.
I also firmly believe, you might have misread Nightowl's posts. He didn't play foul, that's what I got, reading even between his lines. Maybe he got you on the wrong foot - and after that some people may easily read bad intentions or bad will in any follow up. But that's not how it was meant to be.
Maybe the discussion is now able to get in other direction between all of us, since we're all fans of the same, aren't we?

To be honest, I watched your Beyond Antares since it first started and was overwhelmed. I really love, what you've done here. And it would be a shame if all went into Nirvana for nothing.

So my sincere suggestion: Try not to see the criticism as anything else as mere suggestions to help you, as constructive criticism. No one wants to hurt you intentionally. I believe, momentarily the sensitivity regarding the topic "fan film" is on Red Alert.

I wish you all the best and won't stop following your progress. And I hope you'll stay around on Mother Earth for a long, long time!

That's absolutely amazing how you were able to liberate the sound files from those two Star Trek computer games from the early 90's and were able to create new dialog from the original recordings. Good luck on your new project, I'm looking forward to it.

Hi, we've spoken before. I'm Barbara Reader from Star Trek Reviewed, and I rarely post here anymore. I, too, and dealing with cancer. In fact, I've reorganized Star Trek Reviewed so it can continue without me. This is the primary advantage of NOT being an artist. Only and artist can do their own art. An indexer's work can be done by others.

Concerning the Guidelines, I think it would be worth your while to LISTEN to the podcast or at least read James Heaney's (AKA Wowbagger's) summary of it. You will find links to them and many other potentially useful resources here: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/234.html .

The things I want to highlight are:
(1) Your first film, Star Trek TOS: Beyond Antares, previously Star Trek: Antares Rift, is within the standards of being close enough to completion that it would be counted as completed work exempt from the Guidelines. However, you might still want to demonstrate good will by changing the name to fit the Guidelines.
(2) You have at least an argument that your whole series would fit the 'already started' rule, as you have already completed the soundtracks. But if you want to sneak by, you might want to follow as many of the Guidelines as you can, e.g., not use a series name for your work, (that's how some other existing groups are handling the 'no series' rule. They are only using episode titles.) Also drop the use of "Star Trek" from the name of your productions. Do the superficial stuff, which you can adjust to with little work, and think about the rest of it.
(3) An audio track with still pictures won't work. The podcast made it clear that that was just as forbidden as animations outside of the guidelines. Again, read James Heaney's summary of the podcast.

Anyway, I look forward to the 3rd and final part of Beyond Antares, A Star Trek Fan Production.
