STAR TREK - title reveal

OK, me four.
And I loved the reveal, which worked so well with the preceding image of the Narada hanging in spcae, on fire, with the tiny little scout escaping, just little golden blips against the darkness of space...then the whole build-up of the very emotional George Kirk story (a prefect little movie within a movie)...the music swelling...and the title - whoa!!
I also loved the style of the type and design of the SF logo - very Russian Modernist/Constructivist (I was an art history student back in the day.) I think I can say without doubt that whoever designed that title, has a much wider frame of reference than other SF/and comic movies.
Then the intitial credit sequence was tres cool as well. I always feel like when you have a great title sequence at the beginning of a movie, your chances of a great film are much higher (e.g. Goodfellas). I wasn't disappointed here.
It harkens back to the how the bat symbol was used in 1989's Batman.

It wasn't just a matter of the lead up to it or the music (both of which I thought were excellent). It was also that feeling of "This is it, yes, it's 'STAR TREK' back on the big screen!" Sure seeing the Kelvin battle you couldn't mistake it for any other franchise, but that title brought the point home in a big way. Loved it.

Do you mean the inspiration for depicting the symbols as if they were monumental structures, made out of steel or stone? If so, that sounds about right. Indeed, Burton's Gotham has a Soviet flair to it, particularly in Returns. However, I'd say it is far more likely that this film took its cue from Burton rather than the Revolution.
The music helped.
I liked the opening ten minutes or so and I also had that feeling that "YES! We are finally seeing Star Trek again, on the big screen!" when they showed the title.
I kinda liked the Lost/Fringe style location titles. They remind you that it's an Abrams movie.

Ditto, I liked both the title reveal and our first glimpse of the docked Enterprise visually. However the music was quite lacking, it sounded like a basic, generic serious sound from any other US film.
I loved it, and I loved the new theme (Enterprising Young Men). It was big and it definately left me with a huge grin.

That's essentially the feeling I had, and I still had it on my 8th viewing. Gives me chills every time.
I loved the title reveal. It's a smart idea to play up the Starfleet insignia that way.
Yes, and judging by the loud applause from the audience when it appeared on screen I'm betting a lot people did also.
It reminded me of Batman, as well. To me that was a good thing. I felt much the same well of emotion when I saw the slow reveal of the BatLogo in 1989!
I liked the way it opened, including the look, but a part of me wished they'd gone right into the original theme music from the point we see the shuttles pulling away from Nero's ship.
The opening notes of the fanfare, no voiceover, then at the same point where the words STAR TREK appeared on screen in TOS, the title appears on the movie screen, and the theme music plays out as the credits roll.
I know, it would have taken a bite off the end of the film, but call me picky. I like the original themesong, always felt TMP should have had it, and got ticked that the TMP music was used on TNG after they teased us with a new version of the original opening.
I'd still love to try my hand at doing a fan edit as described above once I get my hands on a copy of the DVD.
Gotta go. On the TV the Burger King just showed up in a guy's bedroom in the middle of the night, and I suspect he's a Klingon spy.
