STAR TREK: THE ODD COUPLE CAPTAINS

FalTorPan

Vice Admiral
Admiral
In the early 1990s, some Trek fans wanted a "Captain Sulu" series. In the early 2000s, some Trek fans wanted a "Captain Riker" series. How about both?

STAR TREK: THE ODD COUPLE CAPTAINS

Starring
George Takei as Captain Hikaru Sulu
Jonathan Frakes as Captain William Riker
Co-captains of the USS Madison-Ungar

:p

Are they a couple? Or are they just a couple of captains on the same ship?

What would the rest of the line-up be? Tim Russ as Ensign Tuvok, Grace Lee Whitney as Rand, Majel Barrett as the computer and Dr. Chapel, and Kate Mulgrew as the time-mind-meld-displaced (so alternate reality) Lt. j.g. Janeway?

So that was the start of Janeway's career in this alternate history.

Definitely would lead to some boldly going where no man has gone before...much to the chagrin of Captain Riker. Oh my....

On Stardate 197011.13, Captain Hikaru Sulu was asked to remove himself from his place of residence; that request came from his wife. Deep down, he knew she was right, but he also knew that some day he would return to her. With nowhere else to go, he appeared on the Starship of his friend, Captain William Riker. Several years earlier, Riker's wife had thrown him out, requesting that he never return. Can two divorced men share a Starship without driving each other crazy?"

Oh boy, I can't wait for the episode where Riker draws a line down the middle of the bridge and tells Sulu to stay on his half!

Riker: You can have ops but I get tactical!

Sulu: But that means you get the main turbolift! My turbolift only carries two people at at a time! And what about the chair?

Riker: We'll take turns: I get odd days and you get evens.

Sulu: Wait...

This would be the best trek show ever! Add in Vulcan that acts like a Gangster from 1920s and thinks that every illogical action he takes is logical and you'll get comedy gold!

"Star Trek: Titan"
"Second Star To The Right...."

The Titan encounters an Iconian doorway during an away mission on a formerly Dominion planet in the Gamma Quadrant. An ivy-covered science station, millions of years old, four-fifths collapsed and rusted-out. But there's something emitting from under the debris despite the unlikely possibility something could've survived all this time. After lifting away the debris and scanning with now-ineffective tricorders at this close proximity, the away team is drawn to a set of stairs down into a basement chamber. Upon reaching the bottom step, something activates from a pressure-trigger in the final step and the Titan finds its transporter lock suddenly disengaged.

Riker's away team awakens on biobeds, with the Excelsior's captain looking down at Troi and Riker...none other than Hikaru Sulu himself!

"Where are we?"

"I'm sorry, sir. But we're the ones asking questions right now. How did you four suddenly end-up seconds from catastrophic decompression in orbit of that planet out there without E.V.A. suits? You're either incredibly stupid -- or incredibly lucky that we were in the neighborhood."

"I'll take 'lucky' anyday."

Troi made a serious look at Tom, a faint familiar telepathic voice appeared in his mind.."Will, this is the real thing. I can sense him. He's not a hologram or a shapeshifter."

A thought surged through Riker's now fearfully alert mind. If the authentic Captain Hikaru Sulu's here talking to him, they're definately not in Kansas anymore.

"When are we, Captain?"

The Captain Sulu was a switch, for in The Undiscovered country they seemed to be favoring Chekov as the next Capt.It was a fun move if not a bit hokey.

A comedy Trek series just might work. If done right and with the right casting with occasional visits from favorite characters from the other series. Hopefully there is an imaginative producer out there reading this thread and making a few phone calls to get the ball rolling.
