A steep price, indeed.

Sure, if you take it at face value....but every review has said the same thing...no other restoration in recent history has put this level of work into restoring a show. I've never seen anything like it myself and I can't believe they're doing it...all for an average of 80 dollars. When the work and love going into this restoration is taken into account, the price is very reasonable. It may not be affordable by all, but it's far more reasonable than the 120 + TOS:R sold for when it first came out.

The trailer looks great. If the price comes down even more towards the end of the year, I may finally get the series.

Considering the list price for a season of Doctor Who (13 episodes) was around $100, and the eventual sale price was still $50 - $60, $60 for TNG is pretty good.

You do know that Amazon has the MSRP for TNG-R as $129.99? I only paid between $58 and $65 dollars for each season of TOS-R and I got each season the week it was released.

Keep in mind though that Netflix HD streams significantly lower bitrates than what you get on a Blu-ray. It's not really comparable in terms of image quality.

Why is the bit-rate so low? It looks like crap compared to the episodes on the sampler disc and the still images we're getting over in the TNG-R thread.

It was uploaded in SD. It still looks great. I, for one, am just grateful to get these previews. Thanks, keep 'em coming! :-)

If you don't like it, don't watch it. Even in the low-quality SD, it looks a lot better than the DVDs. I'm thankful that they took the time to post this, as they could have easily made it a SDCC exclusive. It's very well done, probably my favorite yet. It would be cool to see in full-HD, but in my opinion it's better than not seeing it at all.

I meant the discs on Netflix, actually. The special features are appealing to me, but there also something I know I would only watch once. If it REALLY blows me away I'll wait 5 years and buy the whole series for $140 or something when the prices are reasonable.
