Star Trek: The Beginning novelization?

Whatever happened to the novelisation of the unmade Star Trek: The Beginning film Erik Jendresen was talking about?

I liked the sound of the story (all but the name Tiberius Chase!) and would love to read it...

No such book was ever officially scheduled by Pocket, at least so far as I know. I took the comment about the story appearing in novel form as pretty much just the screenwriter's wishful thinking.

There never was a novelization. According to SyFy Portal:

Although Paramount went in a different direction with "Star Trek XI," Jendresen says he hopes his trilogy story gets released in some shape or form, even if it becomes part of the Trek novel lines.

That's a far cry from a declaration that a novelization is actually in the works. As Dayton says, just wishful thinking.

That's a shame - I found his story much more interesting than the Ent relaunch Romulan War books (so far...)

I've always thought that a novelization would be interesting...and yes no actual plot details were ever released about The Beginning. Tiberius Chase though...lol.

I don't much care for the plot that they leaked. Tiberius Chase is a vigilante working outside of the military chain of command of the United Earth Stellar Navy and Starfleet intent on a terrorist attack on the Romulan homeworld. The plot just sounds so anti-Star Trek to me.

Hopefully, Martin and Mangels will tell a different story about the Romulan War.
