I think time travel is a winner plot line and more of it I say.

I'd like Admiral Janeway (I'd prefer Mulgrew but a 're-imagined Janeway could be cool) to appear in next film trying to sort out the continuity problem in STXI citing the Temporal Prime Directive.

In VOY and ENT there was a greatly under used nod to this future agency that was looking over the time line. Surely an imploding Vulcan would attract their attention?

I also want more queers and Bolians.

ST XI isn't just an alternate timeline - it's an alternate universe as well. Spock and Nero reached it via the black hole/wormhole.

So there's no reason for the 29th-century time cops to interfere, because they don't know about any of this. In the normal Trek universe, Spock and Nero simply vanished without a trace, never to be heard from again.

An interesting point. However, I have always thought that "alternative timeline" and "alternative universe" are one and the same thing, yes? (If not in Quantum Mechanics at least in Star Trek).

The mirror (ie alternative) universe was visitable via a transporter accident (originally) and VOY's Harry Kim Wormhole went back in time (20 years). While they are usually called the generic 'spatial anomalies' there are many that interfere with time (Yesterday's enterprise) and someone (Guinan) "knows" which is the "right" universe time line etc.

And who is to say that the Time Agency overseers don't exist in multiverses and/or parallel time lines?

Either way "making sense" has never stopped Trek in the past (so to speak). It would be fun to see Admiral Janeway.

The Temporal Time Agency would still be aware of Nero's machinations opening the vortex wormhole its self if they indeed monitor all violations of time they still should have been able to detect Spock and Nero's disappearance. I don't think though this premise would validate basing an entire series around though. Why would Admiral Janeway be involved with the Agency in the first place when it's been shown that they don't get along very well? LOL.

Nice idea. But, I think VOY had a fairly decent ending. I think what needs to be finished more is DS9, so much was left un-finished.

No more time travel please, your mistaken if you think that the last film was on to a winner because it had time travel in it. They could have made an equally successful film that was just a direct re-boot with no time travel IMO, people weren't there to see time travel, they were there for the big explosions and the exciting story.

There would be no reason for anybody to enter the Abramsverse and 'fix it', since it has not impacted on the time line of the original Trek universe.

Me? Mistaken? Surely not. How can this be?

Let me clarify this, I (and most of my Trek friends) think Time Travel plot lines are winners. And I didn't mean to imply EVERYONE in the known universe went to the film for this reason.

How easily online folk extrapolate one's opinion into generalisation.

I also didn't mean to imply Janeway should come back to 'fix it' or reboot the 'original' timeline, nor did I imply a new series could be built on that premise. I'd like to see her in a future film.

I appreciate that 'old' characters appear in new versions (Bones, Picard, Quark, Shatner, Cochran and Spock in TNG, DS9, VOY, Generations, ENT and STXI respectively) but why not have other original characters in the new films?

But for now other Sci Fi seem to be giving me strong female and queer characters.

Underused? Voyager and Enterprise took a concept from Deep Space Nine (the temporal agents from Trials And Tribble-ations) that was obviously meant as a joke and made it this recurring vehicle for weak plots which took itself way too seriously. The problem with this is that such an agency doesn't make a lick of sense. So trying to create drama using this agency as a premise is kinda pointless. At least it is to me.

I mean, I'm not against time travel plots per se. Not at all, really. But the bigger its involvement and importance in the plot, the more glaring it becomes how ridiculous it really can be. So, another Trek movie should definitely try to avoid time travel.

Oh, and Admiral Janeway as a character in the next movie? On which planet do you live?

The 29th century timecops on Voyager could only deal with temporal incidents that involved someone else from the 29th century. Therefore, since Nero is from the 24th century, changing the timeline in the 23rd, Captain Braxton can't get involved.

However, Crewman Daniels and his agency from the 31st century seemed to be able to deal with incidents in all different centuries, so one would think they'd take notice of Nero's actions.

I also want more queers and Bolians.

Well, Elder Spock is still in the alternate Universe, and as long as he is there, the timeline will keep getting messed up. It would be interesting to see crewman Daniels coming to get him back to his own Universe in the next movie, but I don't think this should be the main plot. Instead, I think this should happen at the end of the movie, making crewman Daniels a guest star, like the EMH in "First Contact".

EDIT: Also, wouldn't it be interesting if, during all this "alternate timeline/Universe" quest, the Mirror Universe made a cameo, indicating it's going to appear in a future movie? Something subtle, like the Alein's scull appearing in "Predator 2"... Maybe like, in the very end of the movie, we saw a ship coming across some debris from an unknown ship, and when they brought them aboard to examine them, they see in one of them the "Knife through the Earth" logo of the Terran Empire.

^ I'm just curious as to why you believe that Ambassador Spock's continued presence in the alternate time line established in the new movie would result in that time line continuing to be "messed up". Spock stated to Commander Spock that he intended on helping their race set up a new Vulcan colony and that he could be where the other Spock couldn't be although i assume that Ambassador Spock would attempt to also keep a low profile as well. I don't think the time line would be messed up or damaged just because he's there. Also how would Daniels be able to cross into the alternate time line using what device? A similar dimensional crossover device like Smiley built because that would be the only way that people from our time line could cross into the other time line. Remember its an entirely different timeline not something we can "go back to".

The Mirror Universe appearing in the new time line would be pretty cool and it is a concept I thought of immediately after watching the movie just because I'm a huge fan of it.

Ditto, even if he went back and sat in the ice cave for the rest of his life the time line would still continue to diverge, either slightly or drastically depending on the circumstances. E.g Spock gets hungry and kills an animal in the cave to roast it over a fire, it turns out that this was the last male in a colony of creatures whose descendants would one day evolve into a sentient species in the prime universe. Or Spock dies in the ice cave, and several millions years later the discovery of his skeleton triggers a holy war between a species who believe they are the only sentient life forms in the universe.
