Star Trek Teaser - Grading and Disscusion

Wow! That sure blew all those fake trailers out of the water :rommie:

Very serious, very dramatic and yet extremely nostalgic. I love it.

They're assembling the Enterprise with a stick welder... A STICK WELDER!?!?! Is she going to have rivets and bailing wire too???

Steampunk Trek in the flesh...

Did I just watch an ad for the Gay Steel Mill works of America?
Here we go...

Could just as easily been Irene Cara, you know. :p

Meeeeah, It was....Ok, i'll wait for the HD Trailer on Monday though before I make my final judgement...It just seemed way too mundane - it looked 100 years BEFORE Enterprises Era if you asked me...also, the fact that it is structurally identical to the Transformers Teaser is a little underwhelming also :p

Is that a new recording by Nimoy? I've seen some claim its from TWOK but it sounds different to me.
I think it is a new recording; it's not the one from TWOK.

Its definitely new. 25 years has done a number on Nimoy's voice.

Or it's just a metaphor for rebuilding "Star Trek" and has no actual baring on the movie. It's a teaser, I'd try not to take it to literally.

When I heard the description of the teaser, I was a bit worried but DAMN!!! The hairs on the back of my neck have goosebumps!!!

We're back, baby!!!!!

especially given it was made before filming even began. I think its an atmosphere setter, an excitement builder, an, oh whats the word? teaser. :p

btw, I love it. nerdgasm-inducingly atmospheric whilst acheiving nostalgia as well. What little it tells us bodes well, I feel.

^Thanks Tom. For some reason it locks up for me at the 57 sec. mark. Anyway, we'll need the official high res release. The various pan shots and quick views give us different views and different glimpses of the other parts of the ship. I'm pretty sure I spotted a view of the top of the secondary hull between the two nycell struts. Plus, the big pan up to show the top of the primary hull also gives a glimps of the bottom of the primary hull (saucer). Very cool teaser..... I think I moistened my self...

Nice, but I agree it's not something that will be in the actual film itself.

I'm guessing the first trailer with clips form the film will be with 'Iron Man' or Indy 4 since they're Paramount's two big summer releases.

My verdict on the trailer:

It's okay. A little dark and unfocused, but I suspect that this is due to its source. The sound design is interesting, if you listen carefully you can hear Alexander Courage's theme creeping into the sound shortly before Nimoy says 'Space'; the use of the Transporter as a whistle is similarly good.

Not so fond on the guys with goggles welding stuff, though. Somehow it looks too modern.

The acting credits at the end of the trailer are given alphabetically -- first John Cho, then Ben Cross, followed by Greenwood, Pine, Pegg, Quinto, and the rest. Under those names was "With Eric Bana..and..Leonard Nimoy"

I doubt that the actual movie poster credits will be alphabetical, i.e. starting with Cho. Or will they?
