"When La’An (Chong) tests a prototype holodeck with a fictional case only she can solve, the consequences of failure get greater and greater, with the Enterprise hanging in the balance." - TrekMovie.com

A holodeck episode a century before the holodeck was introduced. Let's see how this goes down. And we'll get something I've been thinking about for a few years now, something that I thought we'd never see... Paul Wesley doing some shatnerisms. Yes, they made it happen. And there's another challenge aside from solving a case... Spotting who's who with their new hair. Coulda sworn I saw Eric Roberts in the promo pics.

Directed by Jonathan Frakes, of course.

Unlike last week where I wasn't looking forward to the episode, I'm really looking forward to the one tonight. I'm not sure if it will be good (I hope it is) but La'An's outfit looks incredible and she reminded me a lot of Haley Atwell's Agent Carter. I'm in the mood for a nice romp and hopefully this episode delivers.

I remember watching the series premiere of Agent Carter. My mom came and knew nothing about the show other than it was Marvel, so she asked, "What's her power?" I explained that Agent Carter has no powers. Then my dad came and asked, "What's her power?"... :sigh:

Her power is she is a great detective. Sometimes a power doesn't have to be supernatural.

Ever since TAS was recanonized (the omnipedia/encyclopedia said TAS wasn't canon back in the 90s but now the official site lists it as one of the Trek shows), it's canon that the 1701 had a holodeck-like rec room. SNW is just showing that this apparently dates to 2261
But always canon to me.

*weeps softly and rocks while cradling copy of the TOS Concordance*

Is that the Gold Key font?

TAS had a “holodeck” long before TNG called it that.

It's Trek Disruptor Blast. Some old Trek media had something like it so I went looking for it and found it pretty quickly.

I thought of mentioning TAS but decided not to. Still, we have Riker and Data introducing the concept of the holodeck even though it was around a century earlier, same design and all. Maybe this holodeck-adventure-gone-bad causes them to shelve it? Guess we'll find out.

Yeah that's the big downside of doing a prequel - you CANNOT do any of the popular stuff that's canonically encountered only later for the first time in-universe:

No Borg, no holodecks, no Romulans, no Q, no Ferengi, no cloaking devices, no androids, no group-beaming, no Section 31, no Gorn, no Mirror Universe

Naturally, I expect all of these things to pop up.
With only the flimsiest of excuses.

Q must've, uh, been messing with their memories or something for some reason.

Enterprise did almost all of those things.
