So by the time Kirk has it, it’s shrunken by 153 meters
Nah. That size isn’t canon

None of the Eaglemoss sizes are, as they’re not mentioned onscreen.

Neither are most of the accepted sizes for any Trek ship. Very few ships and given lengths on screen.

LoL! So it’s even bigger. :)
I wasn’t around the poster when I posted it. I wonder where I got 423 from?
I did say “nearly” double the length with the original size of it being 289 meters.
That wasn't actually the original size at all, though. It had already gone way up from Roddenberry's initially-anticipated size of a puny 200 feet (per a memo dated 24 August 1964 reproduced on pg. 89 of The Making Of Star Trek), and then way down from however damn big it would have to be to accomodate a saucer section "twenty stories thick" and a shuttlebay "large enough to hangar a whole fleet of today's jet liners" (per the original writer's guide)!

442 meters, however, is very close to the most recent (and much more reasonable, going by the actual TOS sets) size established onscreen for the TOS Connie, by Doug Drexler's cutaway used in "In A Mirror, Darkly" (ENT)!

(Credit to @Mytran for pointing this stuff out to me and others.)

Say, has anyone received the Borg probe and Arctic One yet? They were due in August in the UK, and it’s pretty late in the game.

Nope, it’s very late. Apparently it’s to do with a change in distribution centre or warehouse. I do think that EM should email and explain or say that there is a delay so people don’t think they’ve gone missing in the post.

Any US subscribers not even charged for Europa yet ? I see other US subscribers getting theirs & I don’t even have a pending charge.

That's surprising as both are on route to me now (was sent a tracking # two days ago) and I'm in the US. You guys always get the ships faster than we do.

not sure if anyone has brought this up here, but the worker bee has been added to the list of upcoming ships in the discovery line:

and also the kerala even though we already have it. but still.

Man, those are some ugly ships.

It is pretty wonky looking. I, too, found the super-ugly ships highly appealing, DS9's Yeager being one of the most recent ones. Unconventional yet creative designs are often difficult to fit in the tired old "single primary hull, single secondary hull and two warp engines" standard, which has become almost cliche. I always enjoy seeing new designs trying to push the envelope.

I think they're pretty smart focussing on the human ships and of those other species (Vulcans, probably Stellas' fathers ship). And I mean ALL human ships - we're probably going to see the shuttles, escape pods etc. soon too.

And mostly ignore the fugly klingon ships - just sprinkle them in regulalrly during the larger run of the collection. But I doubt anyone is really buying them for their own sake, just out of obligation for a complete collection.

I'm hoping that these other houses that Hetrick was hinting at for season two have more traditional looks, both in starship design and physical appearance and that they somehow succeed in wiping out the KINO's and take over the empire.

I'm gonna do a bold prediction here:
In season 2 we will see some klingons with the classic "barbarian" longhair, bushy eyebrows and mongol beards. Also, we're probably going to see a klingon ship design much closer to the original D7 (around as close as their Enterprise is to the original one) - and from that point onward, this will be the klingon ship that will be in the foreground in every klingon encounter, and all those S1 klingon designs will be delegated to background ships (except maybe the new BoP).

See it as a slight retcon to get back to the traditional klingon appereances, though they will probably pretend this new/old look was always the "klingon mainstream" and we - by chance - simply only ever saw shaved klingons (because of the cult of T'Kuvma) and the weird outlier ship designs in S1.

And I will happily accept that and love the showrunners for it! :)

here i was thinking they should be dispersing the klingons into the collection a little more evenly. they're gonna burn through the federation ships and start releasing klingon ships back to back.

after the vulcan cruiser, i'm going to start skipping issues - the buran and the klingon destroyer are too ugly even for me. we can do that right?

Thing is: The list of other starships will grow with each season. They are already right now working on the Discoprise and probably some other ships from S2. The ugly-klingon ship fleet won't grow for season 2. They can sprinkle thes uggo's sparely over the run of the nex few years.

Those are going to be the issues no one other but completionists are going to buy - but they will pump up the overall numbers of this collection. Excpect every fifth or so ship in the long run to be a klingon dud.

I like the Buran design very much! But not 50EUR much. But then again - I didn't even like the Shenzhou or Discovery this much, I'm really not buying anything from the Disco-line, not even the Disco-prise, and I'm a sucker for Enterprise-es.

Yep, totally on board with all that. Kind of along the lines of what I've been thinking since I first read Hetrick's article last week, but you verbalized it far better than my own internal monologue did. :)
