Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

In Yorkshire, Brexitannia, Cheyenne and Borg Octahedron arrived! Included a promotional leaflets and a 32-page preview version of Star Trek: Countdown. Really like the style but it didn’t do the E-E justice.

Never noticed that the Cheyenne was made from two underside-Galaxy saucers. It has a captain’s yacht.
The magazine lists the Rigel-class USS Tolstoy had been filmed for DS9. Memory Alpha confirms that, but no pictures seem exist. (The Rigel class from the RPG doesn’t do it for me).

I think the Tolstoy was seen as wreckage in the background of Wolf 359 in Emissary.

Love love love the golden sheen on the Discovery model! It just looks gorgeous. As with most of the models the deflector area looks a bit blurry (plus the white bridge module is still weird and sticks out like a sore thumb), but all in all I really want this model. Now!

As for the XL Voyager, I'll second what others are saying here, it doesn't look like a huge improvement on the regular model. The details are way too blurry. It looks like they mostly just upscaled these models. There isn't much new detail, it's only bigger. :(

And regarding the XL NX-01, is it possible that it's roughly the same size as the NX-refit special?

I'm looking at the images of both on Memory-Alpha, the XL Intrepid looks better then the normal one to me.

Really? Okay. I thought they might be the same (or very similar) size, because on the Eaglemoss page the NX-refit is said to be 21.5 cm long.

Edit: Here. On the German site at least.

Hm I just went with what memory-alpha said. I own the model I could measure it.

Got my USS Aventine delivered today, so a week after I ordered it; not too bad at all. It's nice but yeah pretty teeny and thin. Given how long the Discovery is, especially with those nacelles, you can see why they had almost no choice but to go large with the models. Otherwise at a regular scale size the saucer section would end up tiny.

I got my Aventine today, too - after ordering it exactly a week ago. It is a surprisingly detailed little model but the blue splodge that is the (relatively) large deflector dish is a disappointment. That the much smaller Bussard collectors are made from transparent red plastic makes the painted blue oval deflector quite jarring. Still, I knew about this before ordering it, so can't complain (too much).

Ah - well, that makes sense then. I did notice that the Discovery model on AfterTrek does appear to be the more screen-accurate darker bronze color than the bright gold version we see in these new photos. These may have even been hand-painted prototypes that needed to be rushed out in time for special events.
ben said via twitter this morning that the discovery on display at NYCC is "way too gold".

Memory Alpha speculates the USS Kerala really is the upside-down Walker we see so prominently in the battle. Maybe it’s of the Reklaw class.

So they switched again. It was previously identified as the USS Sioux (“Sue”) in Memory Alpha. It seems I was correct in my initial speculation that the 3rd Eaglemoss Discovery issue will be that of the Sovereign/Shenzhou looking ship that did the gorgeous flyby in the battle.

Any US people get notification of their Aventine's being shipped? I know a few people in the US already got that NYCC pack which was the Titan and Aventine delivered to them.

Nothing yet but if you click on the website listing it still says preorders will ship Oct 10. So I guess we’ll see on Tuesday.

Memory-Alpha is weird. They were going to change the Crossfield class page name to “Discovery-Type” because Eaglemoss isn’t considered a proper source.

Though the next episode preview images you can clearly read the name on the plaque so they’re holding it off now.
