Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Awaiting the Bajoran Assault ship and NX-Alpha. Got the notification that they had shipped on the 13th.

A LITTLE irritated that they didn't put any tracking info in the email for the second time straight.

I just received a shipping email (no tracking) but only the Holoship is being sent this time. That's becoming a recurring theme every few months with only one ship being mailed.

They usually include it with the next shipment so I end up getting three then. It does mess up my monthly budgeting though. I still haven't received the two binders I ordered almost 3 months ago! They charged me immediately after I ordered but nothing so far. Can't believe they haven't even tried to increase production of those since they are never in stock and it seems many are trying to get some! A little frustrating.

I've noticed that British business practices don't seem to be as concerned over credit card usage that American businesses are. They play it a bit fast and loose, charging things way before they're sent and otherwise engaging in activity that some would consider close to credit card fraud. Now that I've been several years with them now (since the beginning, really) I've gotten used to these unconventional charging patterns and have extended a level of trust with them that I rarely give to any company. So far they haven't disappointed, at least when it comes to the model and magazine quality. I'm still at a loss as to why their customer communication is so abysmal, but so long as I eventually get the stuff I paid for and engage in an extra level of patience, it's been generally okay.

Are you using a Credit or a Debit card as most people in the UK use the latter and not former when carrying out small transactions as this and setting up Direct Debits and ongoing payment programs.

Does anybody remember a link to a chart which had the Eaglemoss ships issued so far and what their approximate scales worked out to? I though tit was in this thread but I cannot find it right now.

Credit card. I'm exactly the opposite - I use credit cards for ongoing/monthly transactions, as there is always the possibility that a payment may come off-schedule from my paycheck and result in an overdraft. Putting it on a CC guarantees payment, and offers some greater fiduciary protections that debit cards don't always get.

I think there's one on Memory Alpha
Thanks! Found it.

Wow- have you seen some of the upcoming ships!

USS Enterprise XCV-330
USS Enterprise (Planet of the Titans)(version 1)
USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (Phase IIrefit)
Sydney Class (USS Jenolan)
USS Curry
Smuggler's Combat Vessel (Gambit)
Klingon D5-Class Battle Cruiser
Arctic One (assimilated)
Orion Scout Ship

Ah fair enough, must be the difference in banking styles between the two countries, on the rare occasions I've had to cancel something with my card and the retailer were being rubbish, I've spoken to my bank and got it sorted.

Out of curiosity, any subscribers (in the US) got their Jellyfish special yet?

I was under the impression there was still a lag of a few months between the specials being released in the UK and in the States.

The one thing that's been annoying me since Day One of my subscription:
I just got my Bajoran Assault Ship and NX-Alpha on Tuesday 12/20 (Thank you Captain Harriman!)
My local comic book retailer has this on his list of items arriving next Wednesday 12/18:

STAR TREK STARSHIPS FIG MAG #85 FEDERATION HOLO SHIP
STAR TREK STARSHIPS FIG MAG #86 GORN SHIP
STAR TREK STARSHIPS FIG MAG #87 UTS AEON

Now, there's no way I'm going to see all those ships by this time in January (never gotten 3 ships at a time except for the first Special), by all indications we'll be well into February before I see the Aeon, and that just irritates me to no end.

I am a subscriber. I am a reliable revenue source. Why does a retailer (who doesn't even order all the ships, and when he does only gets 1) get them before I do?

I have decided to stop collecting the models as im running out of room, but b4 I do stop I want to added the the A,B and C enterprises to the collect, the A isn't available in Australia yet ,as for the other 2,i have to wait until they r back in stock.

I must say I am a little disappointed in the Breen Warship. First of all it is rather small- I think they could have made it an inch larger and still had no problem with the packaging judging from my Tholian ship.
My biggest issue though is there is a marked contrast between the cast metal and plastic pieces, especially when they render the same detail. The metal is soft and blurred, the plastic crisply detailed. I know they have to keep part of these replicas as cast metal, but if they had done the arc'd cross members in metal and the long axis arc'd pieces in plastic you would not have anything to provide a direct comparison with.

This may be nitpicking, but I only buy a few of these ships and read the reviews posted here carefully. There are a few I would have gotten except for how members here reacted to theirs and I probably would have passed on this one as well. It was on sale so I cannot complain too loudly, but it is only the third one I have bought and definitely is a weak sister to the Akira and Tholian replicas...

^ Whoa, I didn't notice that at all, and I had the Breen Chel Grett-class warship for months.

Btw, one ship I'd say we're likely to get is the Arkonian destroyer. Question is, would we get the tan Arkonian/Xindi version, or the green Tellarite one? The tan one is more prominent but the Tellarites are founders of the Federation.

When you say the metal is soft and blurred, how soft and blurred? Are you able to provide a photo? I think this is an issue that has affected some - but not all - of the Breen models. Eaglemoss sent me a couple that have very sharp rendering on the metal parts, and a few that are absolutely terrible in comparison (I chased them up on my back-order back in August when it came back in stock here in the UK, as I wanted to know that their system was handling my order properly...they ended up sending me five overall, and one of them was sent more than two months later!). I noticed the issue with the review on Some Kind of Star Trek as well. However, it is not an issue that affects all of the Breen ships, some do have much sharper rendering on the metal parts and look quite good (excellent in comparison to the soft and blurred versions).

I could take a photo of mine and post it here if you want.

EDIT: And I can't add attachments, it seems this forum doesn't allow that. I'll have to upload them somewhere...

My Facebook page is the quickest that I can do, I hope it is okay to link like this. If not, I shall remove the link promptly.
