Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

I suppose so, well here it is for those who are interested anyway.

"The vessel was a blend of Starfleet and Borg technology, designed in collaboration between B'Elanna Torres, Tom Paris, Tuvok, Harry Kim and Seven of Nine. It featured a warp streamlined tetraburnium alloy hull, retractable warp nacelles, parametallic hull plating, unimatrix shielding, and a Borg-inspired weapon system, including photonic missiles."

My eyes glazed over reading that.

Go faster, pew pew more. :p

:guffaw:

In precisely the same manner that my eyes glazed over about halfway through Voyager's run.

Well, I was just charged for the November shipment, but still no sign of the AGT Enterprise-D. The email I got a few months ago about its release stated it'd be sent with the October shipment (3 weeks ago).

I'm beginning to feel disgruntled about this...:(

When was the last time the Relativity was mentioned/considered? I'd love to have a 29th century Starfleet ship.

And what's the current number of signatories to the Titan effort?

Got the JJverse Vengeance, and the Hideki class Cardassian Defiant-lite this month in the UK.

The respective magazines have very different stories. There's maybe as many as 8 pages on the background of the design of the Vengeance.

The Hideki class? It's got a 4-page feature on how many people the writers contacted trying to find out who designed the thing! Apparently nobody knows (for sure).

Well thats to be expected. The Hideki was a background ship made 20 years ago - the Vengeance was a "hero" ship made 2 years ago. Take into account the almost 100% digitisation of assets for Into Darkness vs Deep Space Nine and of COURSE there's a bunch of pics of the Vengeance in various stages of production.

I'm genuinely curious how they're going to handle the Centaur's book. At least they know who made the thing, but there's little-to-no known backstory on it or any of the other DS9 kitbashes. In fact, due to the lack of information, I figure they may dedicate a few pages on all of the frankenfleet. I suspect enough photos have eeked out over the years that they might be able to do a big montage on the subject, plus some conversations with the various known model makers (Buckner, Hutzel, etc.).

Eh, personally I'd be ok if certain ships magazines were little more than a few pages because honestly sometimes there just isn't enough content out there relevant to it. I'm not exactly clamoring for it, but the Krenim Warship's inclusion in the weapon ship magazine leads credence to Eaglemoss NOT making it, which is kind of a shame as they seem to angling for doing all the ships seen on the show.

All that being said, if we reach 90 issues and the sales are going strong, I honestly wouldn't mind just buying the ships minus magazines. Lord knows *I* couldn't fill a magazine on a Type-12 shuttle or whatever. But I wouldn't mind a model of it.

I picked up a copy of issue 32 with the Runabout and the Vengeance earlier today from my local WHsmith.

Apart from a bit of a wobbly stand for the Vengeance, both are pretty damn cool.

I think one of the dilemmas I've had about subscribing to this set, (besides the fact that it's a bit much at the moment, and would rather not put that much on a credit card anyway) is the fact I simply don't have room for that many ships.

I have about 80 trek Micro Machines, plus a handful of Johnny Lighting and Furuta ships stretched all the way across a four foot long bookshelf in my room. The 25 or so Star Wars ships I have are taking up about half of the top of a dresser. I could probably fit some on the top shelf of my computer desk, but considering how often I bump it when getting up or sitting down, I decided that wasn't a very safe place.

I thought about looking around for one of those tall cases. Anyone have any recommendations on shelving if I do end up pulling the trigger?

Ditch the Micros, JL and Furuta ships. Thats what I did, boxed em up and put em in storage because these models blow those away.

No, I can't do that. Besides I did have them boxed up for some time, but after I finally got the third Micro Machine set, I decided I wanted them out. :bolian:

I'm considering a wrap-around shelf around my den/trek room for this collection. I had a small shelf but that's almost full now.

How is the detail on this (like around the inside of the saucer cut-out)?. I already have the one they sold with the video but it is lacking in a lot of areas...

Picked up the Runabout today (no interest in the nuTrek ships for me)

I like it a lot... but I have to say I'd much prefer it without the roll-bar/sensor pod thing on top. You only ever saw that once or twice in the show, whereas the vast majority of the time you saw the Runabout it was without it, so for me I'd prefer a model of said ship to be like that tbh.

Also, noting that they're out every two weeks on a Thursday, the Oberth-Class will be scheduled for Christmas Day... I presume it'll be out on the Friday/Boxing Day instead?
Have to say I really don't fancy going out shopping on Boxing Day to get it! :)
