Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

So...the DSC people met a classic Trek reference they didn’t like and pedalled away from before it made it to screen...

But why?
This one would have at least kind of worked.
Eh? Not sure where you got that from. They just decided against it for some reason.

I was being snarky. DSC crams in some less sensible references, whereas this one might have made a bit of sense (though not from the mushroom kingdom point of view. Stamets is a plumber!) and been cool.

I mentioned earlier that I purchased four ships on the 6th and as of today, they haven't even been shipped yet. Is that typical? (I'm in Canada, if that makes a difference).

Unfortunately, with Eaglemoss, there really isn't anything "typical" - sometimes their customer service is great, other times it's terrible. That said, them taking a week or so to ship isn't uncommon, I'd give it until the end of the week.

In the UK I've found you hear absolutely nothing between ordering and it arriving at your door. They didn't seem to have any order tracking.

According to the Designing Ships book, it originally was just going to be a planet killer with the palace attached to the top of it.
Aww, why the hell didn't they do that?! Thats awesome!

Btw, which designing ships book was it?
Just guessing here, but since the Discovery version of the Designing Starships books hasn‘t come out yet it‘s more likely @Tuskin38 actually read that in the Art of John Eaves book, where the design history of the Charon is discussed and the planet killer backstory is recounted.

That would have been nice.

I like that as the Kobyashi Maru.

I also like the idea of more than one set of nacelle supports.

My idea of a secondary hull would be something like a Mon Calimari ship with a huge dish antenna farm, with structures sprouting nacelle supports that rise to joins two huge nacelles that terminate in spire antenna trailing off at different lengths.

Ah that's it. My bad.

I've changed my Discovery subscription to twice a month so that should get me up to speed post haste.
Now we just have to wait until the STO line starts up.

The upcoming STO line troubles me. With the myriad combinations of components a player can use to customize a ship, there could be upwards of several thousand models. Not sure if they have given any specifics on their plans for this, but I really hope it’s highly restricted to the baseline class designs, rather than every little sub-variant of a greater class. And even some of the baseline ships are a bit fugly (IMO), so I hope they’re not taking the kitchen sink route with this one. Being thorough for on-screen ships was good enough. They started getting a little silly with some of the obscure concept designs, but tons of STO’s? Mmmm.. don’t know about that one.

I’m in the UK and the orders are always delivered by DPD (it’s quite useful, as it gives an option to collect from a nearby pickup point, which I’ve always used).

I think it's obvious it will just be the base template for each class, like the Ent-F was.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was just the stuff released in the last 5 years or so.

I don't foresee a huge problem - a lot of the customisation options in STO are fucking ugly. I suspect they'll look at the ones that are the most popular.

Exeter-Class FTW by the way.
