Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Making it a unique affectation to Discovery’s spore drive would’ve been fine, but they kind of blew that out of the water when they made every SF ship have them and the Klingon ships with no nacelles at all.

So, is anyone gonna print their STO ship?

Upcoming pre-made lineup includes Enterprise-F (post-refit).
I plan to get a ship, and definitely a game-only one that I wouldn’t get my hands on otherwise (like a Starfleet ship from the 31st century, Ouroboros class).
I'm dying for an Enterprise-F, but not enough to slap down $350 for a fully painted one.
How likely is it that Eaglemoss gets us the F?
I'm beginning to think we'll get every Trek ship except that one.

Well, they've done the Titan and the Aventine, so I don't think it's that improbable.

They got enough signatures in the online petition last year to know there's a demand for the Enterprise-F, so yeah, it's definitely not improbable at all--but I don't think there has yet to be any actual plans announced to make it though. And with the flood of ships coming about from DIS and with Eaglemoss now cranking up their Battlestar Galactica line, I'm kind of feeling the Enterprise-F could be the odd man out in the Trek line. Or I might have one foot in the grave by the time they come to it.

I get that Eaglemoss doesn't want to "blow their load" yet on the normal run of issues, but the fact they're doing even more Miranda variants later this year instead of the Scimitar, Jem'Hadar Battleship or Cardassian Keldon...

so anybody else in the US preorder the star trek beyond enterprise? it's slated to be out tomorrow, but i haven't received a shipping notification. this is uncommon in my experience, every other time i've preordered an issue, i've received it on or before the "available by" date.

spoke with customer service and they had no idea when it would be shipping (though the southern lady who spoke to me was super sweet: "oh, bless your heart"). website still says march 20.

I'd take V'Ger from TMP.

It was basically the "antagonist" ship in a major motion picture...and not a particularly complicated one (certainly easier than the Scimitar or the Narada) either.

Maybe they're going to do a "bad guy movie ship" series???

I'm on the specials subscription list, so I don't expect to see it till September. :D

In any case, I'm still waiting for the K-7 and Ringship before I can ever hope to see the next Abramsprise.

I ordered the runabout and Daedalus off eBay and they finally arrived today. Yeah, a lot of the ones I get are quite behind, but I'm slowly catching up.

I personally think the runabout looks a bit better without the pod on top, but I suspect they did that to set it apart from toys and models that have come before. (Ben Robinson said that was their reason for making the first version of the Bird of Prey with flat wings). I suspect that was also the reason for making it the Orinoco and not the Rio Grande. I don't really have means (or, frankly, the will) to pull it off myself, so I'll just have to get used to it.

My particular model, despite being new, had a bit of scuffing on the front, which scraped off part of the registry. All of the "N", most of the first "C", and part of the second are gone, but it doesn't bother me that much.

I notice that one of the nacelles on the Daedalus is crooked. I watched Irish Trekkie's Youtube review and he noted that his had the same problem. Has anyone had this happen? The nacelles are really stiff, so I fear pushing it into place would break something.

Despite the flaws, I'm happy with both. I think the next older model I'd like to get would be the Delta Flyer (or possibly the refit 1701), while, in term of new models, I'm looking forward to the Bozeman.

My Daedalus is fine. I was really worried about it’s nacelles before it arrived because the pylons are so flimsy. Anyway, it’s not a mass issue with that one.

Well, it was an eBay purchase, so not a lot I can do, except maybe stick something in between the nacelle and the hull and hope it pushes them apart.

I also wanted to mention the Daedalus is surprisingly long, especially in the "neck" area. Also, I know they were a little past doing this at that point, but if you look at it from above, it kind of looks like a spacecraft that would've been launched into space on a rocket. (Again, I'm sure they weren't doing that though). It's also got that same yellow dot with a red outline on the bottom that the Antares had, which, for some reason, reminds me of a Shell station (probably the same colors).

It's also interesting that it only says "United Federation", but apparently that's faithful to the original Greg Jein model. Speaking of which, the photos of the real one in the magazine have different registries on each side and the name Essex on the front. I wonder if they had more than one model or they just put different decals on different sides when taking photos for the Encyclopedia.

(There's a "warehouse clearance" sale on in the UK webshop btw)

I got my Beyond Enterprise from WHSmith today. My usual newsagents still hadn't recieved it while WHS had at least two when I got there. Wow those nacelles are really close together, even from all the pictures I didn't really realise. It's not my favourite model of all time but I'm happy enough with it. Shows that the price of the XL range is pretty overpriced when this is £24.99 and they're £49.99. They should be £40 max really.

I also got the USS Bozeman last Thursday, good stuff. Again, hard to get super excited when it's the second Miranda-variant we've had, but still. And it does look nice next to the XL Enterprise-D!
The scale is almost there. The Bozeman should be about the length of the D's nacelles, and the model is only slightly longer than said XL nacelles.

So yeah... I did play with them crashing into each other :D

I find the closeness is more pronounced in the ‘58 Enterprise, because the nacelles are much bigger.

I was wondering about the scale as well.
So, I take it you’re not excited that we get at least two more Miranda variants? :rommie:

The Niagra looks awesome, can't wait for that one. And Alice... I kinda like it. Which I'm surprised about myself as I don't think I've even seen that episode since it first aired like 17 years ago! I might watch it later on Netflix actually, remind myself how it looked onscreen.

Just looked on Memory Alpha, the Lantree and the Antares you mean? I didn't even know about those, did Ben confirm they were coming?
The Antares looks nice, even if it does look stupidly uneven with only one nacelle. Is it actually meant to be like that?
The Lantree however... fairly pointless. Will maybe give that a miss.

I got my Daedalus back in the fall of last year, and the nacelles were perfect. But I hear you about the nacelles feeling very stiff--they do seem like they'll be quite happy to break if you mess with them.

I didn’t see the confirmation but it’s on Memory Alpha, sooo...
The Antares has a pair of nacelles, just this model lacks it.

I tend to rewatch specific episodes when I get the pertinent ship.
