Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Yeah, the US Subscription page shows Now Available instead of shipping by Jan 31st so I’m hoping for that too.

Not sure what the UK page says.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
that would be a pleasant surprise.

folks on the facebook fan page are also wondering why they haven't received shipping notifications or confirmations of any kind from eaglemoss since initially subscribing to the discovery collection.

 Sounds like folks on Facebook haven't been paying attention to Eaglemoss' customer "service" issues lately. And by "lately", I mean for the past year or so.
i hope this is not the norm.

slightly irked as a first time subscriber by the total lack of communication following my initial payment back in october? september? (oh and the mistake email they sent out telling us to expect a welcome package or some nonsense) but i can live with it because i monitor the website and social media.

if the shenzhou arrives at my doorstep this week without an email warning me to expect it, i’ll be happy i got my order on time. if it’s late... well it’s already too late to give me a heads up that it’s going to be late, they should’ve let us know last week if it won’t be showing up this week... so i’ll probably be pretty pissed.

pissed without a good customer service line to rectify that. in the same boat as all you longtime subscribers from day one. womp.

So you keep saying...again and again...

and again.
Maybe because he's correct. Many of us on this board (and elsewhere judging by other complaints around the Interwebz) have had multiple issues stemming from their terrible Pennsylvania "support" site.

The only way to really challenge poor customer service is to withdraw your custom - cancel subscriptions and make sure they know why.

I had hoped that the reviews page that I think Markonian posted a while back might have done something. I honestly don't know if it did or not. Maybe they thought that moving their shipping operations to Indiana might have mitigated some of those issues. Their PA data center has always been the weakest link, which I think still exists to broker the shipments.

I've never seen a company before that exhibits such duality. With the exception of a couple of accuracy glitches, I've always found the actual product itself to be top-flight. Ben and his team have done a truly amazing job - sometimes with very little source material. I'd give them an overall 95% performance rating in general and would like to continue to support them in their efforts. Sadly, that support also ensures that nothing gets fixed on the shipping/customer service end. It baffles me that their management is so completely tone-deaf in that regard.

And, now that we have new folks here just getting into the subscription for the first time, they absolutely deserve a right to know what they're getting into with this company from those of us that have already negotiated the Eaglemoss gauntlet. I won't apologize for speaking the truth on the matter. Like I said, if they fix their shit (which is certainly not an impossible task), I won't have to say anything to the newer people who are asking "where are the ships?"

Oh I agree, poor service is inexcusable. For what it's worth, I'm in the UK and found ordering from their online shop was an odd experience - once you've made your order you don't hear from them until the parcel is dropping through your letter box.

They obviously don't have an order tracking system and have no way of communicating what stage your order is at.

Yeah, their communication was always consistently sub-par from the very beginning. Case in point, when they first opened up the US office and transferred their American database there (prior to starting up the first shipments) causing, at minimum, a six-week gap in shipping. Nobody knew what was going on and there was no indication that there was a problem - not a single email saying what's happening and "please be patient" - nothing. I remember sending an email to their customer service, which is when they told me that they opened up their new US office and apologized for the interruption in service. Six weeks later, still nothing and it wound up being over two months, with the first shipments in August of 2013.

I think people are generally pretty forgiving when faced with a reasonable situation like that - it makes sense that there may be a glitch when the infrastructure gets altered at such a fundamental level. However, considering how much $$$$ we're shelling out for these models, I'm genuinely surprised they don't have a more effective means of letting us know when major shifts in their business model occur like that, especially when said shifts aren't transparent to the customer. It almost feels like a kind of cover-up mentality. They don't seem to understand that saying nothing immediately makes many of us feel like they're hiding something. I guess maybe we Americans are more paranoid about such things than people from other countries are. I know I am. :)

Taking a trip down memory lane, I find one of my older posts hoping for a BSG line of ships one day. Finally coming to pass, almost 5 years later! My goodness, has it been that long?

In other news, came home to the Probert Enterprise C first time I’ve had a good look at it & agree with others that it would’ve made for a good transition between the Excelsior and Galaxy.

I agree the Probert C is a nice looking ship, and I might consider getting it someday, but I don't know if establishing a "transition" between two classes was absolutely necessary. The difference between the Constitution and the Excelsior is pretty radical. The difference between the "D" and "E", even more so (certainly more than between the canon-"C" and "D").

Actually, looking at the Akira, I kind of thought it could be a transition between the Galaxy and Sovereign. It has the Galaxy's wide saucer, but the Sovereign's harder lines. Unfortunately, the registry for the Thunderchild clearly puts it as being older than the Galaxy (if they'd just changed that "6" to a "7", it would've been perfect).

The same is true for the 22nd century Romulan BoP from "Minefield". I would've been a perfect stepping stone between the 23rd century BoP and the 24th century warbird, except that it was about 150 years too early.

Regarding the recent issue announcements, I have to admit to feeling a bit underwhelmed. None of those ships really excite me that much, to be honest. Yes, it's nice that they're doing obscure, never-before-done stuff, but surely there's some more compelling ships that have yet to be done. The Groumall, the Jem'Hadar battleship, Degra's ship, and the main Bajoran ship (the one with nacelles) are all from major alien races and both appeared in multiple episodes, but no word on any of them. The Merchantman and the Lakul were both featured prominently in movies, but no love for them either so far. Actually the Vulcan shuttle from TMP would be nice too, but I have a Micro Machine of that one, so I'm not in a hurry.

It is good to see them doing the 23rd century Tholian ship, though. I have a bit of problem with the design of the 22nd century one (I don't like the seamline cutting across the nose) and hopefully that isn't the case this time.

If they fixed their shit I wouldn't need to.

Would I?

Would I?

You *don't* need to. You don't *need* to do any of this. You don't *need* to keep giving these people your money.

We've been here before. You tossed your little rant out. I responded with "I've never had an issue, what was your beef?". You didnt offer any convincing arguments. I'd didn't seem to convince you either (or really get a clear set of your expectations) and I left it that. You've kept rehashing it.

At what point do you feel your point has been made?

Maybe because he's correct. Many of us on this board (and elsewhere judging by other complaints around the Interwebz) have had multiple issues stemming from their terrible Pennsylvania "support" site.

Like what? What did you expect, and what did you receive in turn?

I'm not really interested in "others" because cherry picking quotes from across this board or the internet at large doesn't prove a damn thing.

I am interested in your specific experiences, because I can ask you questions that put those experiences in a greater context.

I mean, he'll, Amazon is pretty good CS-wise, but I've fallen into their black hole a few times. It's there, and it's a PITA. Worst I've had with EM is some hold times and the rep taking a few minutes to deal with their system. Either way, I always got what I asked for in 1 call with no transfers or haggling: which is the minimum passing grade. I wish my vendors at work were that easy. Christ, you'd think a million dollar contact would entitle you to better turnaround times than 6 weeks...

But that's *my* expectation. What's yours?

Again, I make no apologies for letting new subscribers know what to expect when dealing with Eaglemoss. If it offends you so much you can quite easily put me on ignore. PLEASE put me on ignore. Because I have ZERO intention of holding my tongue when the topic comes up, when someone new asks the question, and due to Eaglemoss' predictable horrible customer service, it always does.

Again...and again...

And again.

It's like death and taxes. You may add that to your list of expectations.

Keep it up, Gebirg. I finally cancelled my subscription because of the abysmal service.

I orderered a few items off the website to complete my collection up to my stopping point (#112) and the third Designing Starships book. The box arrived in perfect condition, but the book and the magazines were all bent & crunched — damage clearly incurred BEFORE they were placed in the shipping box. So, I emailed them and they replaced the damaged items. And it’s far from the first time I received defective or damaged merchandise. It’s mind-boggling.

So yeah, the expense of replacing & reshipping that stuff HAS to impact them somehow.

Damn that sucks. Sorry to hear that. With all the problems I've experienced, I consider myself pretty fortunate that all the binders, books and magazines I've ordered over the years have arrived relatively unscathed, and the minor damage to the models was always easily repairable.

not to add to the pile of dead horses being beaten right now, but...

someone on the facebook fan group page is reporting that he spoke with eaglemoss support who informed him that the shenzhou has been shipping "since last monday". they helpfully could not confirm if his specific shenzhou model had shipped yet but this news goes to the theory that it's shipping on time, they just failed to let us know.

however.

if it's been shipping for 7 days, someone should have reported a sighting by now. so i guess i could have posted nothing at all and we'd have just as much firm information as before. but still.
