Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

USS Phoenix

DKKpBohWkAA8gor.jpg
huh, i was expecting a new sculpt given that the primary hull of the phoenix is different from the stock nebula-class that the honshu model is based on.

as i have said, i've been buying the regular models piecemeal, but i'm going to take the leap with the discovery ships and subscribe. much to my partner's chagrin. these jumbo ships coming out so fast doesn't help the situation either, shocked that the NX-01 is coming so soon.

actually, everything seems to be coming out a lot quicker than i expected, especially after the 8 month gap between the refit NX-01 and the jellyfish.

The Discovery looks all kinds of awesome! The design has really grown on me. I'm sorry to hear Eaves has to get into arguments with “fans” on Facebook upset about the ship's design.

That was announced weeks ago.

Yep, they announced it back in August during Star Trek Las Vegas:

What they announced weeks ago was that we'll be getting (lots of) ships from Discovery. And frankly I would be surprised if they didn't.

What they're advertising now is a new and separate Discovery starships collection. So it looks like every month Eaglemoss will be releasing 2 regular ST collection models, 1-2 DSC collection models plus the specials, oversized and shuttlecraft models!

It’s the same thing they announced in Vegas. I was in the room at Star Trek Las Vegas when Ben Robinson announced the Discovery collection. Their intent was to hopefully do one a month with the price point being the same as the two a month from the regular collection. The ship size will be bigger than the regular collection.

He was hoping to start in early 2018 & mentioned hoping to start sign ups by New York Comic Con.

OK then. I must have missed/misunderstood that part. I thought DSC models would be part of the regular Eaglemoss collections. Thanks for clearing that up!

It's official. I'm divorcing. :ouch:

Oh, I must have missed that, too. Did they announce if it will be available in Germany, too? Or will this be exclusive to the shop?

The wonders of social media! Drexler only had to contend with strongly worded blog posts on Ex Astris Scientia back in 2001.

Yeah I'd figured they'd just have Discovery ships as part of the regualr collection, that way they could have significantly extended the life of it. I'm a still a big fan of it but they are (and have) kinda been doing rarities and obscure ships for quite a while now. Not that that's a bad thing, just saying.
But fair enough if they wanna make more money!

Discovery will be English speaking markets first. He wasn’t sure about plans for other markets (at least back in August).

Yeah, I’m happy as well for each ship we can get our hands on. But I’m surprised that there are still some prominent ships that haven’t been touched - Borg (coffin) probe, Jem’Hadar bartlecruiser, and Keldon class, for instance.

Pretty stupid to complain to eaves after all I am quite sure he produced a sat number if ideas that the producers then decided which direction they wanted to go just like every other primary vessel.

Though personally I don't like it, but I haven't liked a number of various designs that make their way into a trek tv show or film.

So I was surfing the web earlier today and found that some online shops have listed the Phase II Enterprise for pre-order (but oddly not Eaglemoss' shop yet). It seems to be un-numbered, but listed as "collection bonus #5". It's at the regular issue price point so I'm wondering if it will be a situation like the Yorktown & Titan where we buy it separately? For some reason I was under the impression it'd be one of the normal releases.

Yeah Jem'Hadar Battlecruiser is a must. I also don't buy their excuse for not doing the Son'a ships. So what if they've lost the CGI files, I'm pretty sure there were never any CGI files for the Jenolen, the Sugglers Ships, Academy Flight Trainer, or a whole heap of others. Yet they can create them from scratch, so why not Son'a.

But yeah... as pst said, that USS Phoenix picture really is exactly the same as the Nebula-class issue but with a slightly different pod. The saucer and nacelles are exactly the same. I'll allow them the benefit of the doubt as preview pics aren't always final, but sometimes now it's starting to remind me of this-

Same for that Phase 2 Enterprise. It's just the TOS model with the Refit nacelles. I'm not really bothered.

The Son'a ships have some very complex shapes and feature a almost piano style rib structure in the 'wings'. it can be reproduced but it would take a lot of time. As far as we know somebody could be working on them right now but is not finished yet.
The Son'a ships are on my wish list as well.

So do we actually know it is the same model with a different pod concerning the Nebula models? I seem to remember individuals giving out/worrying/down right panicking that the Saratoga was the same model as Reliant, but they ended up not being so.
