Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

The license that Eaglemoss has for producing the JJ Abrams ships only allows them to produce them at the larger scale.
I don't think it's that, CBS seems to license rights pretty broadly, I have the feeling it's because they want to keep the numbered releases as Prime Universe ships.

^ Ben Robinson in charge of the collection did confirm that is the reason why (the licenses I mean)

Bought my first example of these at the stall at Destination Star Trek, the boxset of the C, D and E plus the A by herself.

Really nice fun models with the C especially being a delight. I think because we only ever saw her bashed up and the Ambassador only ever appeared in the background otherwise it never quite clicked what a cool design she was. Especially impressive considering that (even with the head start of the observstion lounge models) she must have had the fastest development of any Enterprise.

Certainly impressed enough to plan to get the other lead ships, even if it looks as if the easiest way to get the other Prime Enterprises is to buy the second boxset and repeat the A.

Also got the hardback designing ships book, I'm assuming it's just a collection of the magazines but it's a really nice breezy hardback.

Oh, and it may not be a hero ship, but if they're doing larger ones a big gold Stargazer would be a pretty neat idea.

The announcement of giant hero ships is a blessing. The size between current Special Issues and Diamond Select seems optimal for a mixed metal-plastic model. The 1701-D would be absolutely jaw-dropping if the level of detail matches the existing model. And the E needs the bigger size. A chunky Voyager, that's be cool.

Anyone else holding out for the Keldon class?

Got the Bajoran Fighter and the Rogue Borg Ship in the mail yesterday. The Borg ship is one ugly mofo but I have less of a problem with it now that I know it's supposed to look a fist about to punch.

Mudd's ship and the Scout ship from Insurrection should arrive today. Should be at my house by now, in fact.

But that will also mean I've gone 6 issues without a new binder, an item which is NEVER in stock in the online store either.

I JUST WANT A FRICKIN' BINDER!!!

I had to get a binder off eBay.

The list on Memory Alpha now includes the Jenolan and the Cheyenne class among it's "TBA" ships. Unfortunately, they don't give any source on this.

Ben is the source for these. He said it at either the NY convention or the Destination star trek europe.

Got my Romulan Warbird and Borg Sphere on Friday; ordered last Sunday, despatch note has Monday's date, they arrived Friday - what is wrong with Eaglemoss and Royal Mail?! The nerve that they have, delivering within a decent timeframe! Actually, I better not get used to it, it likely won't last.

Both are amazing models. I was unsure about getting the Borg Sphere, but feel that they pulled it off perfectly.

Yeah, I thought that might be the case. MA should really have a requirement for sourcing stuff like that, the way Wikipedia does.

Is there a recording of the panels on YouTube anywhere?

I'me liking the fact that they're making special sized versions of the hero ships. 23cm is bigger than the vengeance special. I've got the Corgi E-D and that is 21cm so if the scale between the eaglemoss models is the same as the regular issues then it will be almost the same size. The collection seems to be doing so well that it wouldn't surprise me that the get extended again to 150 or even to 170 regular issues, especially now there is the nre series coming out. If they keep it up the special sized hero ship run would be the perfect opportunity for them to do the original borg cube from BOBW.

Reliant and Enterprise B ordered...but stock was very low on the B, so it might not be coming my way (let me guess, they won't be having new stock in until Tuesday?). And Forbidden Planet won't be getting the NX-Alpha next weekend, it wasn't on their invoice today :wah:.

The Central Canada Comic Con (or "C4") comes to town next week. I heard from one of the guys running things that there might be a table selling some. Assuming that's true and they're going for something around the retail price, I could probably afford two. Looking forward to that.

On a sidenote, I think I might've asked about this before, but has anyone gotten anyone to sign any of the magazines? On Facebook, Irishtrekkie mentioned that he got Gates McFadden to sign the mag for the Pasteur. I think it would be neat, especially if they sign one for a ship connect to their character, like Robert O'Reilly or J.G. Hertzler signing either the Bird-of-Prey or the Negh'Var magazine (or the upcoming Saratoga in Hertzler's case!), George Takei signing the Excelsior, Walter Koenig the Reliant, Jeffrey Combs the Andorian ship, Jeri Ryan the Raven, Patrick Stewart the Stargazer, etc.

Received the NX-Alpha and Federation holoship.

Two things of note in the magazine of the NX-A: The appearance in Star Trek Into Darkness isn't mentioned. And no reference to the NX-326 is made. Now, I don't know how long in advance the texts are penned, but this would've been the perfect chance to jump onto the movie bandwagon.

I like the models. The NX-A is almost all metal, the holoship is all plastic.

The NX prototypes would make a good warp-capable shuttlecraft on 22nd century ships, wouldn't they?
