Star Trek: Specter

I have to say this is an interesting series so far. Love the visit to DS9 and Data and Troi being involved plus the tech that Voyager got to mess with. Will be following for sure.

I have just finished watching all clips. I planned to watch two, maybe three today, but then "just this one and then I go to clean the kitchen" was repeated several times :rommie: and I spent whole evening watching it until the last one.

Interesting storyline. I really like it, even if it's not the final product yet, it's really enjoyable :bolian:

When the project is complete, I'd love to review it for my Fan Film Friday column at SciFiPulse.net. I'll check your posts here and if for some reason I miss it, PM me so I can spread the good word!

@CRH: when this project is finally finished, I can promise the entire Web will know about it :) We're actually pretty close to being finished now, there's only four scenes left plus the end credits.

Has everyone here seen Scene 47? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygg91By8whw This is a pivotal scene for the movie, check it out if you haven't already!

Nice scene. Can't wait til the end. Just was curious, were you planning to continue on with this series on Youtube or do some fan fiction like stuff? I have grown on the Fitzgerald crew and would love to see where they go on their adventures.

@fleetcaptain: honestly hadn't given much thought to "the further adventures of," all I can say at this point is I'm glad they've grown on you! We'll have to see, my intent once Specter is complete is to learn some more sophisticated modeling software, which will hopefully expedite the process. It'll mean rebuilding all of my sets in whichever utility I settle on (probably 3DS Max based on everyone's feedback), but with access to Paramount's blueprints hopefully it'll go quickly and the sets can be rendered with some degree of speed.

Meantime, scene 48 is up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7fHYXo5uEY

As is a preview for scene 49: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3c4IYA11YA8

Alright everyone, Scene 49A, "The Starship Chase," is up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvmDEUg2FYU
This is the climax of the movie, showing the conclusion of Reyf's character arc, and my absolute favorite scene thus far! This scene is what has been getting hinted at for the entire movie ("I realize the position this puts you in, but I'm counting on you to put aside your personal feelings and do what needs to be done" and "Some of the crew are concerned that, when the moment arrives, he might not be able to make the tough decision"), and a major milestone for me personally. I hope you guys enjoy watching this scene as much as I do!

@Barb: the next time I pull them down that may no longer be the case :) There are only a few short scenes left so I'm beginning to turn my attention to trimming some of the earlier scenes (I still think Scene 30A, the second crew briefing, is much too long and needs to be shortened). Once the first full cut of Specter is finished, I'm going to really scrub it and get rid of any excess tidbits of dialogue (possibly doing some rewrites if necessary), thus creating my formal Director's Cut. The next time I pull those long 15-minute chunks down, that'll be what goes up, and the timings may not be the same :)

Great! I'm glad you are editing. I know how much a good edit can improve a work. There are lots of things I have read for friends that on first reading I thought were just OK... then, they edited them, and wow, big improvement!

Thanks! I've updated your web page! I'm delighted to see you've picked a voice cast, and look forward to your final edit and release. That is the point at which I give your show a 'headline.'

I hope you will consider posting it at that time on Vimeo, or some other additional websites that don't hold you to the 15 minute rule. A lot of people also like to download fan films and burn their own DVDs.

I mention this not to be a pest (although I am aware I may be being a pest) but because I am in the peculiar position of bein in contact with many viewers of many types of fan films because of my indexing website.

Here is the current version of your page: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/94.html

@Barb: as it happens, I did upload the first hour onto Vimeo two weeks ago (but told no one because I was just experimenting). They have a 500MB limit, and at this quality it looks like an hour is about as good as it gets.

See that hour, uninterrupted, here: http://vimeo.com/14844039

I couldn't watch the next scene. Said it wasn't available. I don't understand Youtube sometimes why they say that.

I agree with Barb, please keep it to no more than 90 mins. I guess maxium quality for DVD's is 120 mins, but this includes intro, end credits, ect. If that means you have a two parter thats great. I do like to burn it to a DVD and give copies to friends who are fans. I do not charge for this service. If you want to add a donation web site on your video along with your web page that would be great. Maybe even slip in a PSA promoting a donation to your project or some other thing you care about.
I'm sure you have seen the fux "Used Starship Sales" video on youtube. Some comedy inserted as a fake commercial works to balance the drama of the story.
