Rewatched this one today, with my son (aged 3), who was seeing it for the first time. He was a big fan, so I suspect that he'll love the kids show they're putting together.
He loved Ephraim & Dot, though, and continues to ask me why all Trek isn't like that!
Would you dare show him TAS?
Do 3 year olds already care about animation styles?I tried that before, as it happens...he wasn't keen. Think it was a little too soon for him, so maybe he'd go for it now. The animation is so basic on that, though...
You’re not missing much, believe me.I haven't seen this and I don't think it was on Netflix at all during season 2. So that really does suck.
I had this thought myself but others have posted the same thought as a theory but in this short was the storm that young Michael Burnham saw in the sky the red matter explosion from Star Trek 2009 which rippled through multiple realities and was the point where the two timelines diverged?
You’re not missing much, believe me.
The season one ones are on Netflix. Under the trailers option.I like Short Treks........ I finally saw Escape Artist and that was a hoot.

Aren't the Barzan in contact with Warp capable species and engaging in trade with them?I'd defintely like to see a Nhan Short Trek.
Her homeworld (Barzan) is very resource-poor and doesn't even have spaceflight capability. So the Federation would not normally make first contact with them. How does somebody from a world like that even make it off planet in the first place, let alone become a Starfleet officer?

Seems pretty straight forward. Warp capable culture comes in contact with the Barzan. They offer the Barzan goods and services. The Barzan are now part of the Galactic culture. Since the contact has been made the UFP's Prime Directive doesn't apply, so the Federation are Starfleet can recruit Barzans. They are, but we have no idea how they managed to accomplish that.
In any case, the first time (TNG's "The Price") we meet the Barzan, it's over a hundred years after Nhan's appearance. The Federation normally only makes contact with worlds that have warp drive, so how did Nhan find her way into Starfleet? How did she get offworld? Who sponsored her application into Starfleet Academy? There's lots of storytelling opportunities there.
