Game Star Trek Resurgence - new Star Trek videogame announced

There is no confirmation at this time, currently a coincidence.

Some other toy line dropped teenage mutant ninja turtles because of a similar increase.

I would guess it depends on what contracts were previously in place so a few things are probably safe for a while until expiration dates comes along.
Yeah that's what I thought, I'd expect it to come in for new contracts. So Resurgence had probably been axed because it's not cost effective to renew the licence. Anyone who wants to play it surely has already.

I've still not completed it! I'm not a big gamer so it takes me ages. I did go back to it the other day when the announcement dropped. I think it's a pretty cool Star Trek experience, and the story and characters are decent.

Not me! I was waiting to see if the price was going to drop any lower, then they announced it was being delisted the day after a sale had just finished! So I didn't buy it at all in the end, which is annoying.

Sorry to hear that. I think I got it for £10 in a previous sale.

From streaming tv we got the term "Willow'd", where there's no legal option to watch the show Willow other than piracy or buying pirated bootlegs (which just gives money to pirates).

What's the eqiuvalent term in gaming? There's so many games this could apply to that it's hard to think of one that would stick out. "Resurgence'd" is certainly the latest example though.

I guess my biggest question is why? If you're paying for the Trek license, why not go ahead and do something with some of the characters people are already interested in?

My big guess would be licensing. Yeah, it's beating a dead horse at this point, but everytime they have a recognizable character such as Spock or Riker, like there was in this game, it not only means they have to pay for the character's licensing, but the actor's likeness as well. Sometimes maybe even their voices. So, it's easy to imagine how that would get expensive, so for that reason they try to create as many original characters as possible.

Personally, I felt it was a fun game. It was a bit of a breath of fresh air given the original story, and it really felt like playing an episode or movie. Having Spock and Riker in the mix was the icing on the cake for me.
