Game Star Trek Resurgence - new Star Trek videogame announced

Trek games have a bad track record in being released with 'bugs' I'd say. We're still in the preview phase though, so we should give them the benefit of the doubt.
That seems to be the case with all games these days. I don't know how the corporate side of the game industry works, but I wonder if they have to get a product out there and start earning money as soon as possible so they can afford to make the game at all.

Well, some games have been delayed in order to get the final release done correctly... or at least, with less bugs.
Though to be fair, I'm not a big gamer... and most games I played (at least in their initial iteration) behaved fairly well with some occasional hiccups... nothing major.

We'll have to wait and see... but I do agree that a game with many bugs could easily cause problems.
Look at Mass Effect Andromeda... a rather nasty example (and not really fair of me to bring it up as most Trek games didn't have THOSE kinds of problem) because it was riddled with some nasty issues at its first release, and those did more to damage its perception and overall sales. The story was fairly good for a game... probably could have been better, but wasn't bad at all.
And once most of its bugs were solved, the game's overall score and overall quality increased drammatically.

Yeah, I only played it after it had been out for a couple of years and I don't recall having any major glitches or noticing any particularly bad animations. I'm still sad it didn't get a sequel.

I hope ST: Resurgence fares better on launch and doesn't have the same reception as the 2013 game. Now there was a buggy mess. Although in some ways it's a so bad it's good game.

Looks great - basically what if the Centaur was a "real" studio model instead of a kitbash.

The interiors are lovely too. A lot of thought has gone into this.

It says it's science vessel not medical. The article has been updated though maybe they changed/corrected it.

Well, who says a medical vessel can't be classed as a science one?
Medicine is a branch of science after all... it has research labs, etc... so its more of a science vessel than not.

But my point was I don’t think we’ve got anything that says it’s a medical vessel.

If we’d been told it was medical I’d agree we could call it a science ship. As is we’ve been told it’s science so we can’t jump to the conclusion it’s medical.

EDIT: Science Ship. Not Science Shop.

Ok, so its a science vessel... we just weren't told which branch of science (if any).... so could be 'general'.

SF might also have specialised science ships... at least, we've seen Crusher captaining one (the medical vessel) in an alternate future of 'All Good things'.
Since that timeline didn't happen, then maybe starfleet didn't pursue that line of thinking... however, I'd say that their science vessels are 'generalists' when it comes to the sciences... and as such, a science vessel will have far more elaborate facilities in all areas of science than your run of the mill ship may have.

Medical ships are definitely a thing - the Hiawatha for example. Hospital ships were also mentioned in DS9.

Apologies for starting the medical vessel debate.. I swear that's what the article said when I linked it!

This new footage explains the Resolute is a science vessel and was researching a new "10,000 teradyne per second" warp core when it had an accident. That seems to have left the Captain obsessed with proving himself, setting up a future conflict between them and the player character I suppose?

Anyone else catch they labelled the "master systems display" as "main system display"? Fake fans, fire kurtzman, boycott epic, etc etc..

As I said when I first pointed it out that article had been edited since your post so they could have got it wrong and then corrected themselves

While still on my buy list, they look to have a lot of optimization work to still do. That was pretty choppy.

Considering it was supposed to come out in the Spring (which is now) it's not a good sign that it looks like that. Also looks mega linear and like something from 2012 at times.

I imagine this will be about as linear as THE FINAL UNITY or JUDGEMENT RITES.

Linear adventure games are nothing new.

Telltale just got a bad wrap with later games because they were trying to churn them out like Big macs.
