Star Trek Raven Indiegogo campaign

I had totally forgotten about this production until tonight. They have so far released three vignettes. There kind of ok as long as you remember that it’s a very low budget fan production.

Look out for the Starfleet officer reading his lines of a Star Trek I-pad. If you look carefully you can see the script resting on the pad!

I know it’s not great but for some reason I want to see more! :)

I know what you mean. For some reason beyond objective quality, I want to keep watching.

They just did a go fund me for a studio space, making a tos/ next gen era bridge set. He was asking for like 3K sadly they only got a 20.

I just got the FB announcement that STC is starting a new campaign shortly. I would have expected fan-films to lay low until the Axanar trial is over. I wonder how the situation will impacts people's willingness to donate if they think there's a chance CBS will just shut it all down.

Not really sure what the point of this promo is?

Does not seem very respectful to other fan productions or CBS :cardie:

OK this is a fan film I can get behind. Quite honestly it seems fun. I had more fun watching those three vignettes than the first five minutes of Renegades. Probably becuase it's not trying to be something it's not.

ProTip: If you're going to call out the other productions in a 14 second clip, shoot more than 10 seconds of footage and try and hold the camera still while you do it.

Well that's bizarre.

It’s bizarre to say the least. I think that the camera movements might have been for effect, but in either case it does not work well. Also am pretty sure that I recognize where the background comes from. I do the visual effects for my Church and I am certain that I have used that background loop before. :)

That must be a hardcore church to use such a hardcore background.

Whatever.
Yes, hardcore :)
latest

Whatever!

When I used it I slowed the background loop down a little to fit the music tempo. It was only used once before I sent it to the recycle bin. Most of the motion backgrounds I now use are of better quality and I have learnt how to make my own.

The point that I was trying to make in my original post is that it appears that ST:Raven have used a commercially available motion background loop, which I confess, is not particularly good quality. Also, I not sure if the licence covers its use here.
