Spoilers Star Trek: Prodigy 1x01/02 - "Lost and Found"

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would, and the presence of Lurians and Caitians just implies that by the 2380s either some other Alpha Quadrant races had managed to reach the Delta Quadrant or they'd been abducted from the Alpha and relocated to the Delta.

A solid 9.

I can see Tellarites being workers or slaves in the Delta Quadrant if the Caretaker or another entity or organization brought them or their forebears there in some accident or deliberate snatching of life forms.

On a second viewing, it is implied that Dal is speaking Federation Standard English as BadGuy says Gwyn speaks in Standard (assuming this is the same "standard"). The NotGreivous guy speaks many languages and can then speak to Dal. I think this is all built into the mystery of why there are alpha quandrant familiar species, whatever BadGuy's objective is. I like how this is a good set up on its own as a first episode of a new series, but the deeper mystery is something a knowing fan would wonder about.

I like how the Medusan built its own protective suit and without hands, and mentions how hard that is to do. The callbacks to TOS lore about the Medusans were a lot of fun and even in the Delta Quadrant in the 2380s or thereabouts species are aware that the Medusans are dangerous to look at in their pure energy form.

Aren’t Lurians supposed to have hair? Morn was the exception because of consuming Latinum

That sort of went out of the window with the Lurian from the 32nd century in DSC. Which, you know, doesn't bother me even though it's clearly stated in DS9 Morn had no hair for a specific reason. Given how everything else about them or 99% of their look has remained completely unchanged from the Berman Era I'm just glad and don't bother to mention it.

Maybe Morn wore a Shatner hairpiece circa Star Trek III on his head (which is now a mental image that I will never escape. Thank you, subconscious) and when he stopped wearing it, he just let everyone assume that he lost his hair.

Every Lurian we see is actually just Morn. Even when we think he's two or three separate Lurians in the same episode.

I suspect that for the sake of the intended audience, the show intends to play fast and loose with exactly how far outside of Federation space it takes place and why there are so many Alpha Quadrant races there. That Dal is familiar with the traits of a couple of these races (Medusans are telepathic [Were they?]; Tellarites are argumentative) suggests that we're not just dealing with a few odd stragglers who somehow got transplanted to the Delta Quadrant.

We've seen about seven or eight Lurians in Discovery (three, all 32nd century), Lower Decks (a couple episodes with multiple ones in both), and Prodigy, all looking like Morn.

There's also the possibility that Morn was an outlier, one of the few Lurians with hair, and then lost it after the fact and making him look like an average Lurian. I feel like this kind of silly explanation would be fitting for Morn, who was the source of so many silly jokes.

Yeah, they had telepathic abilities. Dr. Miranda Jones communicated with Medusan Ambassador Kollos telepathically through transmitted thoughts and images into her mind.

That Zero was telepathic caught me off-guard as well. I recently re-watched Is There in Truth no Beauty specifically for the purposes of preparing for Prodigy, and I really don't recall any mention of it there. It was Miranda Jones who was the telepath. If Kollos was telepathic, why did they need Doctor Jones?

I was surprised the to Dal and Gwynn are presented as already very familiar with each other, as if there had been previous episodes we didn’t get to see.

Regarding the tellarite’s size, I seem to remember him being supposed to be very young, he probably still has to grow.

About the bad guy…my main complaint is that I can’t understand half of what he says, I have to turn subtitles on for him.

Zero is maybe a particularly gifted Medusan able to do stuff most Medusans can't.
