Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Richter: As you know Admiral Picard, your former colleague Raffi Musiker is a drug addict and an alcoholic, in and out of rehab. How do you sleep at night knowing you constantly make real wine instead of going into the synthehol business?

Picard:

Richter: Oh I'm sorry, have I offended you? The only off-limits question was asking you why you left Starfleet. I'm not asking that, so I have no idea why you'd be mad.

I don't know if I (we?) knew this before so sharing it just in case.

From Doug Drexler AMA on Reddit. Asked about designing the Titan-A.

I think I built the Titan model in record time. I recall that it was about a week. The reason was because originally the Stargazer was going to be the hero ship that would carry our crew through the season. We spent a good amount of time developing it. The Titan was a last minute change. We all gasped when the news came down, but we got it done.

Not that it shocks me, (what with the supposed very late change to what year it was set in as well) but it does help paint the picture of PIC's execution on season three.

Edit: Adding second Doug Drexler quote:

I agree that the Stargazer would have made a better hero ship. It's more muscular than the Titan, but I think dramatically titan probably worked better because Titan is more apt to get it's butt kicked, which puts our heroes in greater danger. Personally I don't see Titan making a good Enterprise. It's more of a mid-range starship. Enterprise should always be a cutting edge Flagship.

I wonder if Rios was ever intended to continue as captain in S3? Presumably not, as Shaw as an obstacle was essential to the drama in the first half of the season.

Romulan: That puny ship Enterprise-G is Starfleet's latest vessel? One of our mining ships is a gazillion times larger than that

That 'late change' would of had to have been during Season 2's production, because they shot both of them back to back. They would have needed the graphics for the bridge screens right away.

The cover image of a new Picard novel being released in 2026 has just been revealed, suggesting it's a post-finale novel set aboard the Enterprise G, as the cover shows Seven with four pips on her collar and Raffi wearing command red.

If S&S is now allowed to do novels post finale novels set on the Enterprise G, that would strongly suggest Star Trek Legacy is most certainly not going forward.
If they do novels beyond Picard Season 3, I hope the characters won't end up killed off as per the previous novelverse.
