Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Terry said there was a line cut from the episode about her being at Starfleet Acadamy. It apparently didn't feel natural or something.
What, a couple second line? Though if she is in SF (prob Academy) would she or wouldn't she have been affected by the Borg? Was it only the younglings aboard ships?

Besides not sounding natural, it's probably because they knew it'd be confusing for the audience in the next episodes when Riker and Deanna aren't freaking out about her. If they said she's at the Academy and do the Borg story and they're not freaking out, then they know it'll look bad. It would have been nice to get a shoutout about her whereabouts, but they mentioned her a few times and looking back, I think that's enough if they're not going to be more specific about what she's up to.

But no, unless they messed with the transporters at the Academy, then I don't think so. When they're on the Enterprise, one of them says that Spacedock was the only thing standing between and protecting Earth from an assimilated fleet. That makes me assume it was just the fleet.

Alexander: Hold my beer.
Not even a mention during Worf's lengthy self-intro if I'm not mistaken

Typically in heraldic introduction like that you give your name, who your father was, of which house/clan you were a member of and your individual accolades.

For example, Alexander would have

"I an Alexander, Son of Worf, house of Martok, Son of Sergey, house of Rozehenko.." and then would list whatever personal accolades Alexander accomplished.

I was also a little disappointed that they didn't mention Soji at all. Data probably would have liked to learn that he had a daughter out there.
They could have fit it in during the therapy session. "Seeing her feed Spot VIII...dropping her off at the Vulcan embassy...made me cry..."

"There were things that we just simply didn’t have the time and money to shoot(....)We had a scene with [the Data-based android from Season 1] Soji and Data that we were also not able to shoot(...)
It comes down to how many pennies you have left in the piggy bank after building a Borg cube and an Enterprise."

It's like four times, five if you count the time Deanna is obviously referring to her but doesn't say her name or my daughter. The person that posted the tweet even went back and got screenshots since people kept saying they never mentioned her.

I found it, at least the one mention by name. So quick I'd forgotten about it. But yeah, there should have been a lot more concern for Kestra since the basic theme of S3 was family.

Space dock was protecting Earth from being attacked by the fleet. It seemed to be in control of planetary shields.

If the Borg-ization process had been in place for a while, I doubt they could have stopped anyone on the planet from being affected, which leads to the question "why attack Earth if they're 'assimilating' the younger crowd there as well?".

I don't think Soji would be considered a daughter per say...maybe closer to a niece given the path of her creation from Alton who was Datas "brother"
Derived from a painting Data did, derived possibly from the original, Kore. Close enough to a daughter that a mention would have been nice.

A streaming show shouldn't have been worried about a minute or two of dialog here or there, especially when it would have tied the entire PIC series together with TNG quite nicely.

Yeah, it's two by name in two different episodes, and then two other mentions as Riker and Deanna's daughter in two more episodes. Which again, if they're not going to commit or be specific about where she is exactly, I think four mentions across four different episodes is enough.

I was confused about the Borg vs Earth thing too, but I do think we're suppose to assume Earth is fine and shields and spacedock are protecting it. Maybe there's a rogue Borg or two down there, but not like in the Fleet. If they had assimilated most of Starfleet on Earth, then you're right, why would they turn around and attack Earth.

Just been shown this, perfectly sums everything up.:guffaw:
I've had reasons to be mad at this show all across the board. But yeah. That.

Kestra: Fair enough that she did not disappear entirely. But none of those mentions are when it becomes all about "We have to save our children!"

And yeah, thanks for reminding me that Worf is the worst father in Star Trek.

Why are we shocked that Elizabeth Shelby would make the entire fleet ready made for the Borg? Because she wouldn't! Even TV writers could see it was a single point of failure, let alone the finest strategic minds in the Federation.
People change. Maybe she somehow thought she'd licked the problems. We previously saw Shelby in only two episodes (her appearance on LDS was just in the background). In that time we learned that she was capable, but also a risk taker, and her decisions weren't always the correct ones. She wasn't a god. Human beings are fallible. Clearly Shelby lost her way.

To be fair, Kestra wasn't shown or mentioned to be on a Borgified ship like Geordi's daughters either. I assumed she wasn't in immediate danger because Will and Deanna weren't freaking out. But I do see what you're saying in regards to the overall theme.

Is Worf the worst or is Sarek? :D
