I mean just because Picard says throughout the show that Earth is a paradise, doesn't mean it doesn't have issues.

Otherwise why would there be colonists? Or failed colonies where rape gangs roam? If humans are these now enlightened individuals, how the fuck do they suddenly become a failed colony with roaming rape gangs? Where was the Federation or Starfleet then? Probably sitting back saying "I told you so".

And none of this is something established in Picard, all from TNG which is "real Trek". I think a lot of people cite TNG like that without realising that the Enterprise is the flagship, it's the best of the best on that ship. But even in TNG, we see Barclay, who clearly has problems while still being fairly smart, being shunned and almost bullied because he isn't perfect and has mental health issues. Do you think all those poor saps being assigned to a Miranda class dragged out of Mothballing during the Dominion War are all Starfleet Academy graduates with top honours?!

Like with the money thing, there is more to it than what we hear.

Well, what applies to DSC and PIC also applies to DS9, VOY, ENT, and even TNG after Season 5. Are you prepared to have this position? Because if not, then you're only dismissing what you don't like on the grounds of you don't like it.

But if you're only for TOS, TAS, TMP, and TNG until 1991 then congratulations. You're a True Purist. But if that's the case, then what do you care about Picard?

Ignoring McCoy's mild racism in TOS, ever seen "Balance of Terror"? Stiles was racist toward Spock. How about "Redemption, Part II" with Data's first officer Hobson? He comes off like a regular Archie Bunker, believing every stereotype about other races he's ever heard. Then there's Star Trek VI. No need to get into that one. Nevermind Kirk's "Let them die!" which I'll excuse as the words simply exploding out of his mouth in a moment of anger. Admiral Cartwright said, quite calmly, "Klingons would become the alien trash of the galaxy."

And really, Roddenberry was already slowly being moved out of the loop by mid-season one of TNG. No way "Conspiracy" would've gotten made if he was anything more than a figurehead.

I type out why I think what I think instead of posting to someone else's video to say "Hey, watch this!" Someone who can't or won't make the case by them self has no business asking other people to put in effort they're not willing to. It's akin to starting a thread, posting a link to a website, then adding nothing else. That's not posting an opinion. It's just plugging a site (or a video in this case).

But I'm old school in that regard. In 1999, we didn't have YouTube videos to link to here. And we had to make our case before the thread hit 100 posts and was locked. We couldn't just go on for infinity. To be honest, I think I liked it better that way.

Part of me is tickled by the general idea, but (a) definitely no "mod for a day"; and (b) actually calling out the posts in question would probably stir up too much shit...could be considered Trolling.

Now if somebody just wanted to pop the card up wherever while cumulatively checking off items as a running gag, I could see something like that.

Same here. I don’t need YouTube to reaffirm my opinions. And I definitely won’t watch anything I don’t agree with it. I don’t go to YouTube comment section to fight with other commenters either, but some people do
