Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

First two fallout games are classic, and New Vegas was kinda fun. But everything Bethesda touches is boring as crap. Open world games are MMOs without the other players, and almost universally lack an engaging plot to pull me in.

I love Fallout 3 and 4. I won't touch Fallout 1 and 2 because I hate turn based games.

I grew up on turn-based RPGs, and strongly prefer that. I love games where I can take my time, pause, rummage through my inventory, decide the proper spell to use, etc. In contrast, I've never been someone with particularly good reflexes or hand-eye coordination, so action-y games just tend to be really, really hard for me to play.

I dont mind turn based games but my problem with fallout 1 and 2 is the interphase can be slow and clunky

As an aside, I just realized Peyton List (the actress who plays Lt. Rizzo/Narissa) is actually American. This means the posh British accent she has was probably just because her character is supposed to be Narek's sister, and it wouldn't make much sense if one of them had an American and one had an English accent. Which also implies that Harry Treadaway can't do an American accent.

Have you played the Batman: Arkham games, the Assassin's Creeds, the PS4 Spider-Man, or Horizon: Zero Dawn? All of those are open world, and have some of my favorite video game stories ever.

You're right. I could have sworn I'd seen it written with a colon, but I checked the Wikipedia page, and there isn't one on there.

This guy is the dialect coach for the Romulan language in Picard (his name is in the credits) Found the link on Memory-Alpha's page for the Romulan language.

It sounds like he altered the written language too, not just the spoken.

The guy who runs the site is unhinged, and has been so for a long time - it just didn't show as much as it does now. I lost my patience with him years ago when he went on a homophobic rant about slash fan fic. (It's fine to dislike it, I get it's not everyone's cup of tea, but to call people who write it all sorts of names is NOT fine.)
Oh! That I did not know. Taking Trek a bit too seriously is silly, but that sort of stuff is just vile.

Well I watched the first episode because it is free and well i guess its just ok. I dont love it I dont hate it. A little too JJ for me and well aside from Sir Patrick who is on top form everyone else is juts meh

Are we really at a point where any Trek that has high production values, and actual decent cinematography, is going to be classified as "JJ"?

Which also implies that Harry Treadaway can't do an American accent.

It doesn't imply that, at all.

Treadaway is a series regular, whilst she is not. They likely would rather he was using his native accent, given his larger role, than having him put on an accent just to match his on-screen sister who is a smaller part of the series.

Also, perhaps they just liked his voice for Narek....

ENT has fantastic production values even 18 or more years later and I wouldn't call it "JJ." The only things about DSC that made me think "JJ" were the window viewscreens and occasional lens flares.
