Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Raffi and Seven are still in season 3. I hope they both have scenes with some of the other TNG crew.

I just really like it when casts from two different shows get to interact.

Like we're 2 seasons into Picard and I still can't believe we have Seven and Picard interacting in live action.

The actress that plays Raffi confirmed that she has scenes with the TNG cast. She mentions what a joy it was to work with them.

He didn't write any of Season 2 other than co-writing the opening.

Goldsman was co-showrunner with Terry Matalas during season 2 and according to Matalas, Goldsman tookover the writers room from episode 4 onward while Terry went to work on season 3.Literally the Tweet I quoted from a Picard Staff writer says season two was Goldsman's vision and season 3 Terry's.

But he didn't write the individual episodes.

There was probably a seasonal outline before that to work off.

I'm telling you, none of them are going to be dead.

If the timeline gets restored to the way it was at the start of episode 1, Elnor and non-Queen Jurati will be back, Rios will be in command.
I wish I could share your optimism. I also hate "big gamble" stories with no risks or consequences. I don't see a Voyager-style Big Giant Reset™ coming, nor do I really want one.

It's not going to be a complete reset consider Borg Jurati is probably still the queen from Episode 1.

Terry Matalas pitched the time travel story. The Picard's past trauma was apparently Akiva's idea. Terry is writing the season finale. I'm sure there's a bit of Terry throughout the season based on his pitch and outline (and the fact he's writing the finale) even if he wasn't involved in the day to day script review. Since Terry wrote the premiere and is writing the finale I would think the Jurati/Queen angle was his idea although the specifics of exactly how it came about could have been other writers/Akiva.

I think Picard will have the memories of the mission to the past (not sure about Seven/Raffi), a version of Rios is likely to truly stay in the past even if there is a Rios back in the prime timeline. So it won't be a "true reset" in the sense that it never happened, but I do expect everyone to be back alive and well on the Stargazer bridge at some point with Picard choosing not to destroy the ship.

Given that we know that the Stargazer sets will play a much bigger part in S3, one random thing I've wondered was if the Stargazer scenes in the first episode were shot much later on, or did they really build that set as part of S2 pre-production?

Which is it? Both in the same place simultaneously is a paradox, not to mention a square-one reset. You can't have it both ways. Or in this case, three ways.

Technically speaking, the Picard, Seven, Rios, Raffi, Elnor and Jurati who went back in time were the Confederation ones (or at least their bodies did).
Only the UFP consciousness versions of these people went back in time, not their bodies... so its possible this is a loophole which allows for BOTH... which would result in creation of temporal duplicates (whcih technically CAN be merged).

I'm sure there's a big wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey bow to be put on it.

Yeah, I had been presuming that Q was gonna poof them back into their bodies just before the Stargazer went kablooey. But if that was the plan, why bother giving Seven back the exact same implants she had before traveling to the Confederation timeline?

Frist off, we don't know what function Q will have upon the team's return to the future (IF they return).
I posited 2 ways they could go back:
1. The team ensures the timeline results in creation of UFP, not Confederation (or possibly both somehow), and he gets his powers back and whisks everyone back to the future.
2. Talinn will provide a spaceship and the team will use Q for his intellect to calculate the temporal vectors for returning to the future (and when they do, Q regains some use of his powers and integrates temporal duplicates).

I've been thinking about 'one Renee must live, while the other needs to die' statement. Soong has the technology for human cloning. If they can accelerate the process (the 24th century certainly did, and if they enlist Q's help, he could probably manipulate the tech to do that), creating a dead Renee replica (or just fragments) would be there to get Soong to back off (aka, make him think he succeeded) while the real Renee gets to do her mission anyway.

However, if the Confederation timeline has to somehow still happen, then Q and/or Guinan will have to get involved... or possibly Talinn.

Are you forgetting episode 1? Both were right there.

The Jurati on the bridge probably won't have the memories from the mission.

Either Stargazer will still be destroyed or Rios and Jurati (and possibly Elnor) will somehow just disappear. If it’s the prior, not sure how Borgati survives. But the joys of time travel.

It'll be interesting to see how they break the loop. Obviously what they did already happened otherwise where would the BQJ have come from? Q fractured things at some point when he removed a significant portion of Prime history.

What happened first though?

I'm not forgetting anything. I do believe something else is afoot. Or should be. A piece is being overlooked.

It is a mess, that's for certain.
