Yeah, just based on how much we've seen so far, it seems like just characterization is coming over.

There's a shot of Patrick chilling between takes with what looks like one of the Season 1 Mars Androids, he's in his Alt-Timeline getup. So it looks like Evil Starfleet also has androids[/spoilers]

Also the USS Luna is on the same display, with its registry number from the books (though NCC instead of NX). Some people are getting excited too early, it's probably just an easter egg.

My guess is other than the main cast coming back there will be basically zero threads which carry from Season 1 to 2, considering much of Season 2 seems to take place in either alternate timelines or the past.

If those registry numbers correspond to ships in S3, then that pretty much puts it in in the present (Picard) or near-future timeline.

I think some people get so caught up in the nitty gritty of detailed analysis, they forget that watching TV is meant to be fun

Detailed analysis is fun for people who enjoy that.

I hope to get:
- More information on who Rupert Crandall is, and why he immediately knew the eternal-thunderstorm-but-also-CA-sunshine planet Kestra asked him about
- Raffi's vindication since she was right all along
- Nice flashbacks showing more of Picard's past in both the alternate and the prime timeline
- Some reference to the Bell riots
- Perhaps even an appearance of Rain Robinson, still working at the Griffith

Based on its registry number, it could be either a Bradbury class or Nova class starship. But could just as easily be something else.
