Riker simply has PTSD from the death of his son. He had retreated back to his home and only came out to help Picard. He got struck to the core and he's more interested in saving lives than feeling that pain again.

I'm still wondering what role Vadic is playing. If she's a bounty hunter after Jack, that's fine, but she seems to be our main villain. If we're really leaning into the past and we're not going to have Denise Crosby show up as Sela, is she going to morph into Salome Jens at some point?

Take your own advice and see the conversation itself. It wasn't Terry who actually brought up that topic of discussion.

He responded in a very diplomatic way there. He said there was a significant segment of the fanbase that wasn't getting their 'Star Trek' with the Nu Trek offerings thus far. Pic S3 is hopefully closer to what they've been wanting.

Garth conveniently left that part out in his recap.

I especially liked the part where he said he hoped the season could appeal to all fans.

It certainly has the potential to be the best-received Nu Trek season so far.

Fair. I didn't like the Mirror "twist". I actually liked pre-twist Lorca. I wish I liked Shaw as much.

Shaw's got death written all over him. It's just a question of how and when. Him being in sickbay right now is a fake-out. He'll get better, they'll make us start to like him more, then Vadic shows up. She has to kill someone. It's just a done deal.

Not really. In this context, being well-received means some of the loud people on social media/in the fandom like it. Whether that carries over to audience size is entirely another matter.

SNW was very well received by a portion of fans on social media, but it has minimal wider presence.

Plenty of Trek fans will say that DS9 is the best series and that Enterprise S4 was what the show should have been all along. DS9 lost a stack of viewers over its run, and Enterprise S4 didn't bring anyone back.

Plus of course Picard is going off air at the end of this season, regardless of how it is received.

If Changelings can become ANYONE, one of them may take on Shaw's identity by absorbing his DNA from the bloody trail in the hallway.

My guess is Vadic wants latent traveler DNA. Jack may have it and if Jack connects the branches of the DNA he may be able to make the DNA active and use it to travel. The Shape shifters and their allies may want Jack's DNA to weaponize and use it against the Federation by adding it to their own DNA. Those are just my own guesses. I'm willing to watch the show to see what happens. Who knows, Jack may join his older half brother Wesley and go traveling around universe.

Is it possible that the Founders, at least some of them, are just pissed that they lost to the Federation and want to get even? In DS9, it's stated that they had total control over the Gamma Quadrant and hadn't lost to anyone for a long time (I forget how long). That must've been a shock for them, and they want to get even!

I'm not sure if it's any more complicated than that.

We never learned her real name or what other name she goes by.
It works surprisingly well.

Change both names to binary and there's a difference of 3. Add 3 to VADIC and you get one hellbird of ARDRA

There were several of them, and they didn't kill their hosts. The only problem is that you see their gills sticking out, but they could build tiny little spacesuits or new tech to tap into the host's blood...

I can accept there being opposing views between Riker and Picard on what to do. I can even buy there being some anger in the mix. But the one thing that completely makes it out of character is Riker publicly telling Picard, "You just killed us all."

That was phenomenally over the top, not just in the fact he did say it but in front of the whole bridge crew... never mind the fact it was Riker who gave the order, and the responsibility ultimately falls on him. Riker was never one to shift responsibility or blame to someone else for his actions or orders.

Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that it's looking like our heroes are being deconstructed. They are right. (I think the wording was something like the current era of characters are not people we want to aspire to be, only people we wouldn't necessatily want to be around.)

I hope this is only very temporary because Beverly has already been damaged beyond repair.

I wonder if the whole Picard - Rider exchange is just an act. We know that an upcoming episode is going to be called "Imposter", maybe Picard and Rider already suspect that there is another imposter on the Titan and their over the top argument is meant to get the imposters attention so they can be identified.

Or similar to the Iconians, but they wouldn't need to use a doorway to travel from place to place. Acting as agents of chaos, in order to weaken governments, scare the populace, cause wars by sewing distrust among the different solid species.
