Dr. Werner (Lea Thompson) says to Soong "Dr. Soong you were running genetic experiments with a privatized military organization, Spearhead Operations, on soldiers. Unmonitored, unregulated illegal experimentation". Could this be related to the Eugenics Wars?

Or connected to the future troops of Colonel Green or the drug-addicted soldiers we see in the 2079 courtroom scene of "Encounter at Farpoint, Part I(TNG)." I kept hoping for a Eugenics Wars reference from one of the board members.

"Dr. Soong, maybe you need to be reminded that less than thirty years ago genetically-modified people tried to take control of big chunks of this planet? Do you have to be given a history lesson when you damn sure already know it?"

I would 1000% take an Assignment Earth spinoff over a Section 31 spinoff.
Even though I'm not against a Section 31 series, I'd also prefer an Assignment: Earth series. Ever since I first saw the original episode I thought, "I wish NBC had picked that up!" And I've said on here a few times, I'd be interested in a Star Trek spin-off set in the 21st Century. So win-win.

Steve Shives mentioned that letting the ICE detainees go could have caused a huge amount of messing up the timeline, given they were all headed to Mexico.
That occurred to me while I was watching, but I thought, "Just go with it."

Either it's all going to be undone through Q Magic or, even if not, they're not going to do anything critical that will Alter All Of Humanity.

This show is at its absolute best when its not trying to Make a Statement or be Culturally Relevant (TM).

The Borg queen/Jurati stuff continues to be great and I'll watch Spiner and DeLancie together in whatever scenes the writers want to throw at them. The rest of the episode was more hit-and-miss, but at least it was a step up from last week.

Wasn't Assignment Earth pretty much a shameless U.S. ripoff of Dr. Who though?

I don't see it that way but, I also don't know enough about Classic Doctor Who to really say for sure. I was under the impression the Doctor and his Companion(s) just went to all kinds of different worlds and times. Assignment: Earth would be more just taking place on Earth with Supervisors watching over Humanity.

The closest parallel I see -- and again I'm a non-fan of DW -- would be when the Third Doctor was stuck on Earth for a while, but that was in the early-'70s, a few years after "Assignment: Earth".

That's different.
I was talking about Raffi and 7 beaming out of the police car (not their rescue of Rios).
Something like letting ICE detainees go could have a much larger effect on the timeline (in fact, I was actually wondering WHY have Raffi and 7 let all the detainees go as opposed to just Rios... that could have had more dire consequences for the timeline than a stray event of Raffi and 7 beaming out of a police car and being spotted by a single police officer who could easily be dismissed as delusional).

I liked this show alot I liked that Talinn was a watcher and is supposed to protect Renee Picard and she was trying to help them out. I was glad Rios finally gets rescued and they are back to help Picard. The stuff with Agnes and the Borg Queen certainly took an unexpected twist I wasn't expecting. It was nice to see the scenes with Brent Spiner and with Q and Isa Briones returning as Adam's daughter that needs help to cure her health problem. Q is blackmailing Adam to do something bad to Renee Picard to sabotage her being part of the Europa mission.

I wonder if we are getting another Eugenics War retcon and it'll be made a part of WWIII, like how the Sino-Japanese War was either the prelude to or a part of WWII depending on who you ask. Maybe Soong is responsible for creating the Augments if his daughter does indeed turn out to be a creation. Picard did go out of his way to mention that "records of this time period are wildly incomplete".

My guess is no retcon will happen(both ENT and STID were pretty adamant about the wars happening in the late 20th century) but I could see this whole period of history being viewed as one extended period of instability and conflict and the separate Eugenics Wars of the 1990s and World War III being connected by certain individuals and government actions taken in the wake of the earlier conflict.

Gave that a 7. It was entertaining but nothing more.

I liked how Seven and Raffi had each other's backs. That was a nice moment.

I was underwhelmed by the Supervisor. She seems to only watch and not do anything else. Gary Seven, in contrast, was the Supervisor of several Agents who actively got involved. When those two were killed, Gary stepped in himself to take action.

Not-Laris seems to just watch. Watches but doesn't really catch what's really going on. That an entity is manipulating her ward. She had one job!

Thank goodness Picard was there to give her a much needed kick in the ass! After all the build up about how powerful she was and that you don't want to mess with her, she was underwhelming and ineffective.

It was weird seeing Q becoming a schemer. Not really his thing. He'd play tricks on others, but it wasn't like him to actively get involved in plots. Not sure why he's so hell bent on messing up the timeline.

Not sure what to make of the Adam Soong plot. Seems weird to introduce a new plot thread halfway through a short season. I did like the father-daughter relationship. I'm not sure how a geneticist can fix whatever is wrong with Q? He would seem to be more of an energy being who can take human form.

So, I guess the writer's like nuBSG. Now we've got Head-Borg Queen! Well, any doubt about the masked Borg queen is gone. Unless they've got something up their sleeve. Hopefully they do! Otherwise watching the obvious play out will be a drag!

The smart move is never to mention Eugenics Wars in the 90s ever again.
